Earlier this year, T & T Roofing Limited secured works on Taylor Wimpey plc’s Leven Road project in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets — a major scheme spanning approximately 16,000m² across multiple blocks, levels, balconies and podium areas.

Where project programmes allow, we are committed to creating meaningful social value, supporting apprenticeships and work experience opportunities that give people the chance to gain practical, hands-on experience within a professional construction environment.

As part of that commitment, since April we have provided 20 paid work placements for Tower Hamlets residents on the live Leven Road construction site, with all placements successfully completed in September.

The placements included fully-funded essential training in Working at Height, Asbestos Awareness and Manual Handling, helping the participants build the practical skills, knowledge and certifications needed to take their first steps into construction safely and confidently.

Creating a safe and supportive environment for young people and new entrants on a live construction site is no small undertaking and we simply couldn’t have made it happen without the enthusiasm, support and collaboration of everyone involved: a huge thank you to the London Borough of Tower Hamlets WorkPath team — Amina Begum, Bernice Fullerton and Asnan Mojumader — and Lisa Beresford, Section 106 and Apprentice Manager at Taylor Wimpey.

We are very proud that some of the apprentices have decided to continue working with us on the Leven road site as well as on other sites we are working on and we hope that all 20 of the participants gained valuable experience, developed new skills and, perhaps most importantly, got a taste of what a career in construction could look like.

We also hope they enjoyed working alongside our team as much as we enjoyed having them on site!

T & T Roofing Limited was initially appointed by returning client, Higgins Partnerships, to supply and install Bauder liquid-applied and built-up felt roofing systems across multiple roofs, balconies, terraces and walkways at York Way Estate.

𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝟮
Our scope has now been extended to include hot melt waterproofing to the 3,300 m² podium between Kinefold House and York Way.

Podium works began in July, using a complete Bauder system to support a combination of hard and soft landscaping. The build-up includes Bauder JFRI PREMIUM+ inverted insulation, BauderJFRI WFRL water flow reducing membrane and BauderGREEN SUB-BM UK biodiverse substrate.

With the podium located in the heart of the estate, careful planning and protection are essential. Our team is supplying, installing and managing temporary waterproofing and protective measures to safeguard surrounding buildings, vehicles and pedestrians throughout the works.

T & T Roofing Limited has started work for our returning client, Sloane Curtis, at Oak Court in Midsummer Place Shopping Centre. Right at the heart of the city of Milton Keynes, the shopping centre was originally built around a protected oak tree which had to be cut down in 2015 and is to be replaced with a bakery.

Our roofing works cover approximately 134m² and include temporary safety netting and scaffolding, metal SR35+ roof decking, 220 mm of Sika Sikatherm® insulation and a mechanically fixed Sikaplan® G single-ply waterproofing system.

The shopping centre will remain open throughout the works, making access, deliveries and public safety central to our planning. With restricted working hours and delivery slots starting as early as 5 am, our team is coordinating each stage to minimise disruption to retailers and visitors.

T & T Roofing Limited recently completed a project at a school in Bedford, involving Firestone EPDM waterproofing repairs to the existing roof covering.

This project presented some logistical challenges, as all works needed to be carried out during the school summer holidays. Working closely with the school, we carefully coordinated our programme to ensure the project was completed on time while minimising disruption to summer activities taking place on site.

As part of our scope, T & T Roofing Limited also supplied and managed the scaffolding and temporary guardrail systems required for the works. Taking responsibility for these elements allowed us to effectively manage the Health & Safety requirements of the project and provide a safe working environment for everyone on site.

This project demonstrates T & T Roofing Limited’s ability to deliver high-quality flat roofing repairs with careful planning and clear communication to accommodate logistical challenges and H&S requirements.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming our good friend Leigh Cole, CEO and Founder of HABS - Strength In Mind, to our office to officially present the funds raised at our recent Charity Golf Day.

It was fantastic to hear first-hand how the money raised is already making a real difference. Knowing that the support from everyone involved is helping HABS expand its services and reach more people who need it most makes the day even more worthwhile.

Hot melt waterproofing systems provide a fully bonded, seamless solution for flat roofs and podium areas where long-term durability and reliable performance are essential.

The hot-applied, rubberised-bitumen membrane is poured in a liquid state and reinforced with fabric to form a continuous, monolithic waterproofing layer. Bonding directly to the prepared substrate helps reduce the risk of water tracking beneath the system.

Hot melt membranes are typically manufactured from a blend of refined bitumen, synthetic rubber and mineral stabilisers. Specialist additives improve adhesion and low-temperature flexibility, while some systems also incorporate post-consumer recycled materials.

At T & T Roofing Limited, our trained operatives install hot melt waterproofing systems using specialist application equipment, including purpose-built hot melt boilers and installation tools. All equipment is regularly inspected and maintained in accordance with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) to help ensure safe operation and consistent installation standards.

These systems can be applied to horizontal and vertical surfaces and incorporated within protected membrane and inverted roof build-ups. Their flexibility and self-healing characteristics make them particularly suitable for zero-falls and low-falls roofs, complex detailing, penetrations and areas subject to regular access or heavy loading.

Every installation is carefully coordinated with the wider roofing package, including insulation, drainage, structural interfaces and finished surfaces, to deliver robust, long-lasting waterproofing solutions.

• Intensive and extensive green roofs
• Brown and biodiverse roofs

As we continue to reflect on our completed projects, we look back at our work at Beaulieu Park in Chelmsford, where T & T Roofing Limited was appointed by Cala Homes to deliver the roofing and waterproofing package across this residential development.

The development comprises 72 one- and two-bedroom apartments, alongside 73 three-, four- and five-bedroom houses.

Completed in January 2025, our 208-week programme covered approximately 1,000 m² across a wide variety of properties. Our package included:

• Widopan PMMA liquid waterproofing to flat roofs, terraces and balconies
• Concrete paving installed on adjustable pedestal systems
• Plywood substrates installed to falls
• Bespoke powder-coated aluminium parapet cappings
• Independent electronic integrity testing to all roof areas before the paving finishes were installed

The Widopan PMMA system provided seamless and durable waterproofing across multiple plots and a range of flat roof, terrace and balcony applications.

Despite programme changes and fluctuations in material costs throughout the project, T & T Roofing Limited maintained the original contract value, with no price uplift passed on to the client.

The works were successfully completed in accordance with the project requirements through careful planning and close coordination with Cala Homes and our supply chain.
