❤️ COULD YOU RESTART A HEART?

Today is Restart a Heart Day! ❤️

Imagine someone suddenly collapses in front of you. They're unresponsive and not breathing normally.

Would you know what to do?

When someone suffers a cardiac arrest, every second counts. Acting quickly could mean the difference between life and death.

Here's what you need to remember:

❤️ RECOGNISE – If someone is unresponsive and not breathing normally, suspect cardiac arrest.

📞 CALL 999 – Get emergency help immediately and follow the call handler's instructions.

🙌 START CPR – Begin chest compressions. Push hard and fast in the centre of the chest, at 100–120 compressions per minute.

⚡ FIND AN AED – Ask someone to fetch a defibrillator and follow its voice instructions as soon as it's available.

💚 KEEP GOING – Continue CPR and follow the AED's instructions until emergency services take over or the person shows signs of life.

You don't have to be a medical professional to help save a life.

At Training Plus Skills, our practical CPR and AED training gives you the knowledge, skills and confidence to step forward when it matters most.

Because when someone's heart stops, doing something is better than doing nothing.

❤️ Learn CPR. Learn to use an AED. You never know whose life might depend on it.

WHICH FIRST AID EMERGENCY WOULD MAKE YOU FREEZE?

Be honest…

You're going about your day when suddenly someone needs help.
No warning. No time to Google. Just you and an emergency.
Which situation would make you feel the LEAST confident?

❤️ A — Cardiac Arrest: Someone collapses and isn't breathing normally.
🩸 B — Severe Bleeding: Someone has a serious injury and is losing blood quickly.
😮 C — Choking: Someone suddenly can't speak, cough effectively or breathe.
🧠 D — Stroke: Someone develops sudden facial weakness, arm weakness or speech difficulties.

👇 DROP A, B, C or D IN THE COMMENTS!

There's no judgement here. The whole point of first aid training is to turn uncertainty into confidence.

At Training Plus Skills, we believe practical training should prepare you for real emergencies, not just help you pass a course.

💚 You can't predict an emergency. But you can prepare for one.

60 SECOND FIRST AID: SEVERE BLEEDING

When someone is bleeding heavily, every second counts. Would you know what to do?

Severe bleeding can become life-threatening in minutes, but taking the right action could save a life.

Here's what you need to remember:

🩸 PRESS – Apply firm, direct pressure to the wound using a clean dressing or cloth if available.

🩹 COVER – Keep the wound covered while maintaining pressure. If blood soaks through, keep pressing.

📞 CALL 999 – Severe, uncontrolled bleeding is a medical emergency. Follow the call handler's instructions.

✋ KEEP PRESSING – Maintain pressure until emergency help arrives or you're instructed otherwise.

⚠️ If there's an object embedded in the wound, don't remove it. Apply pressure around it instead.

You don't need to be a medical professional to make a difference. But knowing what to do matters.

At Training Plus Skills, our practical first aid courses help you develop the skills and confidence to act when it matters most.

💚 SAVE this post. SHARE it. You never know when someone might need it.

World Mental Health Day | 10 October

Looking after our mental health isn't something to save for when things get tough. It's something we can all do, every day, and it helps us learn, work and feel our best.

So this World Mental Health Day, here are five small things you can take into your workplace and your everyday life:

💬 Talk. Ask a friend, family member or colleague how they're really doing.
👂 Listen. Sometimes being heard is all someone needs.
💚 Look after yourself. Small steps count, and you deserve them too.
🤝 Support each other. A little kindness and understanding goes a long way.
📚 Keep learning. The more we understand, the better we can support ourselves and the people around us.

At Training Plus Skills, our Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace course helps people feel more aware, more confident and more comfortable having these conversations at work.

Because when we look after our minds, we build brighter futures together. 💚

What Would You Say?”

THEY SAY:
“I’M FINE.”
WHAT DO YOU SAY NEXT?

Sometimes the second question matters most.

“I’m fine.”
Two little words that can end a conversation pretty quickly.
But what if you know your colleague well enough to think… Hmm. You’re really not, are you?

You don’t need to be a counsellor. You don't need to diagnose anything. And you definitely don't need to have all the answers.

Sometimes you just need to give someone another opportunity to talk.

💬 “Are you sure? You don't seem yourself.”
💬 “Want to grab a coffee?”
💬 “I’m here if you want to talk.”
And then? Listen.

Ahead of World Mental Health Day this Saturday, it’s worth remembering that supporting someone doesn't always begin with knowing the right thing to say.
Sometimes it begins with asking twice.

Training Plus Skills' Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace training helps people build awareness, recognise when someone may need support and feel more confident having those conversations.

💚 You don't need all the answers to start a conversation.

“If I do CPR wrong, I might make things worse.”

It’s a fear that can stop people from stepping forward when someone is in cardiac arrest.

But if someone is unresponsive and not breathing normally, doing nothing isn’t the safer option.

❤️ Call 999
❤️ Start CPR
❤️ Send someone to find an AED
❤️ Follow the instructions from the emergency call handler and AED

You don’t need to be perfect. You need to be prepared to act.
Practical CPR and AED training can give you the confidence to step forward when every second matters.

WOULD YOU NOTICE?

The colleague who's normally the life of the office has gone quiet.
The one who's never late is suddenly rushing in after everyone else.
The person who always has it together seems distracted, or like they're overwhelmed.

Would you spot it?

A change in behaviour doesn't automatically mean someone's struggling with their mental health. But it can be a sign that something's off.

And you don't need to be an expert or have the right words. Often the most helpful thing you can do is simple:

💚 Notice the change
💬 Find a quiet moment and ask, "Are you OK?"
👂 Listen, and try not to judge
🤝 Offer support without pushing

Our Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace course at Training Plus Skills helps you recognise the signs and feel confident knowing what to say and do next.

Because a good workplace starts with people looking out for each other, and one small conversation can matter more than you think. 💚

👇 When did you last check in with a colleague and really listen to the answer?

WORLD HEART DAY — 29 SEPTEMBER

Every heartbeat matters. But would you know what to do if one suddenly stopped?

Today is World Heart Day, a global campaign raising awareness of cardiovascular disease and encouraging us all to .

Looking after our hearts matters — but so does knowing how to respond when somebody experiences a cardiac arrest.

Knowing how to perform CPR and use an AED (defibrillator) could give you the confidence to step forward and help while emergency services are on their way.
At Training Plus Skills, our CPR & Automated External Defibrillation training is practical, hands-on and focused on giving you skills you can actually use when they matter most.

Because in an emergency, you don't want to be standing there thinking:

“I wish I knew what to do.”

You want to be ready to act. ❤️

NOT EVERY EMERGENCY LEAVES A WOUND.

We often think of first aid as bandages, CPR and physical injuries. But sometimes the person who needs support is the colleague sitting beside you who looks absolutely fine.

They might be quieter than usual. Struggling to concentrate. Withdrawing from the team. Becoming overwhelmed by things they'd normally manage.

You don't need to diagnose someone or have all the answers. Sometimes simply noticing a change, starting a conversation and knowing where to signpost someone for support can matter.

Throughout October, we'll be talking more about mental health in the workplace — recognising when someone may be struggling, starting conversations and creating workplaces where people feel able to speak up.

Training Plus Skills also offers Understanding Mental Health in the Workplace – Level 2, helping people build greater awareness and confidence around mental health at work.

Because first aid isn't always about something you can see. 💚

FIRST ON THE SCENE?

You’re driving along and come across an incident before the emergency services arrive.

Would you know what to do?

Those first few minutes can matter — but helping safely starts with knowing your priorities.

🚗 Make the scene safe — don’t put yourself or others in further danger.
📞 Call 999 — give the emergency operator clear information and follow their instructions.
🫁 Check responsiveness and breathing — if someone is unresponsive and not breathing normally, they may need CPR.
❤️ CPR & AED — knowing how to start CPR and use a defibrillator can give someone vital help while an ambulance is on its way.
🩸 Severe bleeding — knowing how to recognise and control life-threatening bleeding is another essential first-aid skill.

For professional drivers who spend hours on the road, first-aid training isn't just another certificate.

It could give you the confidence to step forward when you're the first person there.
Training Plus Skills provides practical first-aid training designed to help people know what to do when it really matters.
