Ask most people what a lift engineer does and they'll picture someone on site, working on the lift itself. Fair enough. But before any lift moves, its controller has to be built, wired and tested, and that's some of the most demanding work in the industry.
We've built our own control panels in house since 1988, and some of our longest-serving team members have made the workshop their whole career. Reading wiring diagrams, tracing faults back through a panel, understanding how a controller talks to every other part of the lift: it takes years to get properly good at, and it shows in every controller that leaves our workshop.
It's also why every ACE apprentice starts in manufacturing, building panels, before they ever set foot on site. Whatever direction they take afterwards, that grounding stays with them.
Not everyone who joins the lift industry wants to be climbing shafts five days a week, and we don't think they should have to in order to build a serious, respected career. The workshop is a specialism in its own right. 🔧
