What if the secret to longer-lasting concrete was buried in the past?
The Romans built structures over 2,000 years ago that are still standing.
Not just standing.
Resisting earthquakes, storms, erosion, and time.
..Scientists recently uncovered how:
They didn’t just mix aggregate and lime, they actually used a clever "self-healing" technique by including burnt lime with water, not slaked first. This caused tiny white calcium inclusions in the mix which, when cracks formed, would react with water and repair themselves!!
A 2,000-year-old material science hack.
And it’s still outperforming some modern mixes.
At MPS, we obsess over materials. Every resin, mix, or compound we use is deliberately chosen to extend the life of concrete – not just patch it. Especially if it's a Sika product!!
Concrete doesn’t have to fail early.
We believe in building (and repairing) things to last.
