Just an update on a job I completed a few weeks back, customer has sent me before and after pictures.
RPH Worcester boiler with a really poorly installed flue.
Removed the tape to find the flue 20mm too long.
Altered flue length and installed flue as should be into weathering slate. Also added flue clip as none installed 👨🏻‍🔧🔥

Brought a service forwards due to boiler faulting.
Noticed the top of the cupboards and the flue corroded.
Had a quick look and someone’s had an easy but dangerous forgetful moment.
Flue gas analyser test point left open- products of combustion into property.
Last service over 7 years ago so the customers have been fortunate that this has not caused any health issues.
All back together, tested and left safe.
New electrodes, HT lead and auto air vent fitted. 👨🏻‍🔧🔥

Went to a job to look at something unrelated to the boiler and found the boiler casing hanging off!
INTERGAS Rapid, top of boiler is made of plastic and had heat damage so all mounting lugs had failed.
Carried out full service using INTERGAS service kit and also found all flue seals perished. Replaced top mounting plate, condense trap and bottom of heat exchanger completely blocked up. All clear now!
Took a bit of time on this one but it’s been saved rather than replacing it. If you have one of these boilers then please get them serviced 😁
This one was installed 2017 and this is its 1st service as far as I know. It was pretty much on self destruct mode- had the original red heat exchanger seal as well- replacement is a Viton seal.

RPH boiler replacement- LPG 🔥👨🏻‍🔧
Morco FEB 24 literally lived as long as it could and time to go.
Replaced with a Baxi 424, converted to LPG.
Tried to tidy the pipework up a bit but they just go point to point in RPH 🤣
Quite like the Baxi boilers, suit this replacement well.
Customer extremely happy to have hot water again!
EPH control on this one as standard on all my installs. Wired in to open therm so should make it a bit more efficient.

I am very glad the working day today is over 😆 Toilet repair this morning- nothing fits properly as the cistern is a silly shape and had to do Krypton factor to make it all fit back in, also previous person had siliconed literally everything. Cistern back to wall, cistern to pan, doughnut washer- everything 😆
Had to look at a boiler I serviced two months back that apparently has not worked properly since after being advised of this a few days ago.
Works fine, heating pressure is dropping out I think after heating has been tested by the customer. Suspect a leak on the system. 1st service in 3 years on a new boiler install- old system. I have recharged the expansion vessel as I do on all services. Maybe it’s that refilling I thought, recharged again- took very little air charge. Found a leak on a radiator valve- possibly that. Felt like it was my fault and a visit made FOC.
I did see some pipework alterations made on the heating system- maybe that?
Hope that one’s over as I’ve only done a service and repaired the boiler hinges.
Small works is fun 🤣

It’s that time of year now guys where people are starting to test heating systems, this brings in new issues as we have not had heating circuits on for a fair while now. It is wise to give them a quick run, that will then highlight issues that can be addressed before heating season starts. Mainly will be. control issues, programmers, motorised valves etc.
Have a great weekend all, I’m going to try and get rid of the pain I have in my forearm and hand as I seem to be getting a bit of carpal tunnel going on which is also the joys of my trade 🙂👨🏻‍🔧

Really enjoying this one, fab kit from Ideal Commercial. Two Evomax 2 80KW boilers into a Low loss header. Back next week for more pipe bashing. Will be providing heat for swimming pool via a plate heat exchanger. Old flue vents are going to be removed and some new ventilation put into plant room to keep temperature down.

That’s this one filled up and on, couldn’t test the heating too much. Will do that when it cools down!
Big day today. Hot and cold water on, heating air tested and then filled. Gas purged and boiler lit.
Just little bits left to do on this job. 👨🏻‍🔧

Hi guys
Realised I have not posted for a while. I have had four largish jobs on the go that I am splitting my time between and just about to start a Commercial one for two boilers in cascade to heat an external swimming pool. Pics show when I was ripping out the old Hamworthy Purewells.
I have DH Price new garage unit that is nearing completion. Full second fix of plant room,radiators, disabled WC, kitchen areas, sanitary ware and workshop plumbing facilities
A property in Sandown that has had a full refurb and only a bit to finish.
A flat in Ryde that is having a refurb- new boiler, new rads, en-suite update and the last two days I have been helping to install the kitchen.
A shower room that has just completed working with a builder friend.
Alongside all of my annual servicing and gas safety checks.
It’s all good and sorry if I have a bit of lead time for new works. I’m trying to get these all complete before heating season starts. 👨🏻‍🔧
