SPS Painting & Building Contractors Limited have an opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our hard-working team based in Amesbury Wiltshire. We specifically seek a commercially strong and financially focused Surveyor who enjoys the technical aspects of a contract as well as appreciating an open and team focused environment. SPS Painting & Building Contractors Ltd are a family run business established in 1988. We operate within the commercial refurbishment and maintenance sector using direct labour and trusted specialist subcontractors where required.

The summary Quantity Surveyor role:
As a Quantity Surveyor you will actively obtain and evaluate information to ensure a realistic cost for the supply of works, goods, materials and services for designated refurbishment/maintenance contracts, liaising with Contractors, Suppliers and Clients to ensure information, costs, profitability and value meet with a focus on reducing costs and improving efficiencies, therefore having a real impact on our profitability and ultimately our commercial success.
Working on a broad range of works including Social Housing - kitchens/bathroom, rooflines, painting and voids, Public sector - Education and Hospital refurbishments/planned works, MOD properties and estates – Refurbishments and repairs. We require a good all round Quantity Surveyor with sector specific experience.
Site working/visits in and around the south of England.
Key Responsibilities - Quantity Surveyor
*Assist in the preparation, processing and selection of estimates, bids and tenders to demanding timescales.
*Prepare and monitor cash flow forecast for designated projects.
*Prepare and submit monthly applications for payment to the Client.
*Prepare monthly valuation reports for the Director.
*Value and authorise payments to sub-contractors.
*Liaise with Contract Managers to establish the project specification and requirements.
*Attend and contribute to meetings with work colleagues and or Clients/Customers when necessary, building relationships and demonstrating excellent communication skills.
*Monitor the contract progress, assess and report any changes that may affect project costs and or time scale.
*Assist in the control of individual contract budgets.
*Working with direct labour and subcontractors, ensuring all work issued has labour targets to return agreed profit performance.
*Developing and maintaining relationships with the workforce, customers, subcontractors, suppliers and our client
*Procuring materials, plant and subcontracts in line with our systems/procedures and contract budgets
What will you bring as a Quantity Surveyor
Proven experience in a similar commercial or quantity surveying role; we are open to considering various job titles that incorporate transferable commercial and financial responsibilities and welcome anyone with proven experience in response maintenance and planned refurbishment environments.
A proven ability to minimise cost and maximise value, profit, and cash flow
Strong IT and Microsoft 365 skills
Experience of working with direct labour and subcontract procurement
Experience of working on Schedule of Rates contracts is preferred with the ability to price minor works from first principles.
Must be flexible in hours of work and travel and hold a Full UK Driving Licence.
