Quinns are proud to share that we successfully passed two important audits over the last few weeks- namely ISO 9001 and BAFE.

ISO 9001: This audit assesses our Quality Management System, and we’re thrilled to have achieved a Pass. It’s a crucial accreditation that allows us to tender for key projects.

BAFE: This accreditation is an independent, third party quality standard for companies involved in the Fire Safety sector in the UK. The SP203-1 awarded covers the installation of Fire Detection and Alarm Systems.

We also received a SP203-4 certificate covering design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of Emergency Lighting Systems. As an electrical contractor, this accreditation gives our clients confidence in the quality and safety of our work.

Audits can feel daunting, but we see them as a chance to demonstrate the strength of our systems and the professionalism of our team. Special thanks to Darren Conn and Adam Quinn for their work on BAFE and to Stuart Jackson for leading on ISO with valuable assistance from Rob Guyton. 👏

The time spent getting things together takes these individuals away from the ‘day job’ and we are all grateful that others step in to assist and provide cover where necessary. 💪

Lastly, a big thank you to the auditors for their positivity, guidance and support.

We're delighted to welcome two new team members as part of our ongoing growth and reorganisation plans. 🥳

With an expanding order book, increased unit space and a larger fleet of vans, we've strengthened our team with two key full-time appointments: Procurement & Vehicle Manager and Stores Supervisor. These additions support our continued growth while enabling other team members to step into new roles, which we'll be sharing more about in future updates.

👏 Welcome, Rob Guyton – Procurement & Vehicle Manager
Rob brings a wealth of experience, having served 25 years in the British Army. After joining the Royal Logistics Corps as a Radio Operator, he transferred to the Royal Army Physical Training Corps, completed a Business Management degree and finished his military career as a Warrant Officer Class One. Since joining us, Rob has already made a significant impact, introducing new systems that are improving the way we operate.

👏 Welcome back, Jonny Scott – Stores Supervisor
We're equally pleased to welcome Jonny back to the Quinns team. Jonny began his career in his family business, managing a large second-hand shop in Salisbury and travelling the world importing and exporting goods. After previously working with Quinns, he gained further experience in the healthcare sector and general contracting. Since returning, Jonny has quickly enhanced the organisation of our stores and the logistics of getting materials to site.

On behalf of Kris and the Directors, we'd like to extend a very warm welcome to both Rob and Jonny. We're excited to have them on board and look forward to seeing the positive contribution they'll continue to make as Quinns grows.

We are most fortunate to have been extremely busy this year with a number of tight deadline projects, taking on new staff, various audits and dealing with the external challenges brought about by the world we live in at the moment.

Throughout all of this, our engineers have worked tirelessly at various sites to meet our clients’ needs and of course have done this in the face of the unbearable temperatures the country has experienced over the last few months. 🥵🫠

That’s exactly why we place such importance on taking holidays. Just as machinery needs downtime to stay at its best, so do people. Despite all the deadlines we face, it is important that staff take some time off and we ensure that our holiday allowances enables our people to do so.

Whether it’s exploring the beautiful Wiltshire countryside, heading off to faraway shores , or simply enjoying quality time with friends and family - switching off is vital for both mental and physical wellbeing and we are proud to encourage our staff to use their annual leave, recharge, and return with fresh ideas and renewed energy. 🏖️😎

We are delighted to announce that Darren Conn celebrates his 20-year anniversary with Quinns this month. 🎉

Darren joined us in 2006 and was Kris’ 3rd hire from when the latter started the company in 2004. Darren successfully completed his Apprenticeship and over the years has steadily built his qualifications, expanded his specialisms, and helped scale the Electrical team as our order book grew.

His leadership has been instrumental in delivering high-quality, compliant projects on secure sites, building a strong industry reputation, and mentoring a number of apprentices - many of whom are still valuable members of our team today. His commitment and focus on developing talent have been central to the success and resilience of the Electrical Team. 💪⚡🧑‍🔧

Darren has brought a number of Accreditations to the business and in recent years has specialised in electrical design, emergency lighting and led our move into renewables including solar PV, battery storage & EV chargers. 💡

Darren’s strongest asset is his technical knowledge. Considering the number of audits we have each year, his expertise is invaluable in getting us through these necessary but difficult exercises. But more importantly, over the last 18 months, Darren has stepped up brilliantly to help the company navigate its way through various Major Project Works and his co-directors are extremely grateful for his input and dedication to these challenging projects.

We are thrilled that Darren has committed his professional journey to Quinns and will continue to play a vital role in the future of the business. 🥳🙌

🪂 Skydive for Salisbury Hospice 🪂

Here at Quinns, we are proud to report that one of our own will be doing a Skydive to raise funds for a most worthy cause.

On Saturday 1st August, Matt Sleeman, accompanied by his extremely brave daughter Maci, will be approximately 15,000 feet out of their comfort zone! They will be jumping from a plane, freefalling for 60 seconds (which we are sure will feel like a lifetime!) Then descending by parachute; hopefully landing somewhere in the vicinity of the Old Sarum Airfield.

The funds raised will go towards the incredible work done by the wonderful staff at Salisbury Hospice. The charity offers patients compassionate, palliative and end of life care along with providing unwavering support to family members and caregivers as they navigate the most difficult of times.

The hospice is very close to Matt’s heart. The brilliant nursing staff have looked after both family and friends in the past and he and his daughter are doing something inspirational for t his most dedicated provider of end-of-life care.

If you wish to donate Matt has set up a Just Giving page and the link is provided below.

On behalf of us all at Quinns, good luck Matt & Maci – You’ll smash it!

NEW PREMISES!

As mentioned on a few occasions in recent weeks, the business is undergoing a number of changes as we grow and diversify.

Part of the plan had to be the acquisition of more physical space. Therefore, the directors are delighted to announce that we have finally secured a unit adjacent to our existing offices.

Now the real work starts! We will be “knocking through” so we can redesign our office structure, put in new kitchen and bathroom facilities and upgrade our IT and Telecoms. The departmental restructure will align with the new design and with a multi-disciplined Construction team in place, our MD is confident that the refurbishment will be completed well before the end of the calendar year.

Once all the works are done and everybody settled into their new environment, we plan to hold an opening event to which we will invite the many brilliant clients, employees and stakeholders that continue to support us on our journey.

Watch this space as we keep you up to date with how the works are progressing!

It is that time of year again when the carnival comes to Amesbury!

With so many of our team growing up in the area, the carnival has been a part of their lives and so we are delighted to continue to sponsor this event to be held on Saturday 20th June.

We were also delighted to send 4 teams along to a brilliant quiz night at Spuntino in Amesbury this week which again helped raise funds for a very worthy cause.

Here at Quinns, the local community is so important to us as we continue to employ young and the not so young from the Amesbury area, use local suppliers when we can, engage with partners in the vicinity and strive to provide a top quality and compliant service to our clients.

Watch this space for some forthcoming announcements regarding even more recruits and some other changes to the business.

In the meantime enjoy the carnival!!

As part our reorganisation plans, we are delighted to confirm 2 promotions within the business.

Firstly, Victoria Plank has been appointed as Major Projects Coordinator with immediate effect. Tor’s role will be to implement a streamlined and consistent approach to Project delivery across the company. She will support our Project Mangers to ensure our larger works are delivered on time, in budget and in a fully compliant fashion. Given the sites on which we operate this is a vital appointment and we have full confidence in Tor’s ability to deliver what we need.

The directors are also pleased to announce that Paddy Rynne will be taking a newly created role within the Mechanical Team. Paddy will be our Mechanical Project Manager acting as a deputy to the department director. He will also be coordinating various projects, support engineers with site set-up and supervision and overseeing resourcing and materials. Over the coming weeks Paddy is combining his new role with the training of our new Procurement Manager.

On behalf of Kris and the directors, many congratulations to both Tor and Paddy on their fully deserved promotions and we wish them every success going forward.

We feel truly blessed that Quinns has been able to expand and grow over the last few years which is down to the hard work of our staff, the loyalty of the client base and unwavering support from various partners. ✨

Given this trajectory, the directors have worked on changing the company organisational structure and have recruited for specific roles within the business. We have also reassessed the premises needs going forward and revisited our vehicle requirements. 🏢🚐

Despite the experience of the Management Team, we are always open to advice and assistance especially when entering the realms of moving the company forward. To this end we are engaging with external consultants to help us negotiate the next steps. 🤝

Watch this space over the coming weeks and as we share these changes and once again reiterate that we never take our stakeholders for granted and remain committed to providing a quality and compliant service.

This Mental Health Awareness Week , we’re reminded that not all struggles are visible.

At Quinns, we recognise that mental wellbeing is just as important as physical health. That’s why we’ve implemented a range of support tools and benefits - not only for our employees but for their families too.

We ensure these tools and confidential helplines are available to support mental wellbeing, and our team are regularly reminded of these resources.

Two of our Management Team will also be attending a seminar presented by our HR Partner to ensure we keep fully informed of any changes in how we approach this vital issue.

But beyond policies and platforms, our Managing Director, Kris, is unwavering in his support of his employees both in and outside of the workplace. He is especially supportive of those who need extended time away from work, doing all he can to ease the load on employees and their families during challenging times.

More than anything, we look out for one another.

We need to remember that whilst our staff are working on site they are out of sight and so we owe it to them to check in regularly and communicate effectively.

At Quinns, no one should ever have to struggle in silence.
