The challenge

We recently completed a commercial glazing project at a large warehouse in MediaCity, Salford, where 96 double-glazed units had suffered from failed perimeter seals. This had allowed condensation to develop between the panes, leaving the glazing misted and affecting the building’s appearance.

The solution

Our team measured the affected units and sourced the replacement glazing and rubber seals required for the existing window frames.

With 48 units across two levels to replace, careful planning and the right access equipment were essential. We hired an articulated boom lift to provide access to the elevated glazing, allowing our team to work efficiently and safely.

This is where investing in our people really counts. All our tradespeople hold IPAF qualifications, helping us undertake specialist access work with trained operatives and the appropriate equipment.

The result

All 96 double-glazed units were successfully replaced, restoring clear views and giving the building a fresh, clean appearance.

The removed glazing was also taken to a registered waste facility for responsible disposal.

Another successful commercial project delivered through practical problem-solving, skilled workmanship and effective planning.

Sometimes, the best solutions come from thinking outside the box! 💡

We were called to a busy commercial office entrance where expanded aluminium and rubber matting had curled up, creating a potential trip hazard and forcing the revolving doors to be taken out of service.

Working alongside the site maintenance team and revolving door engineers, we removed the matting, inspected the substrate and identified the cause.

Rather than create further delays and costs, our team used its skills and initiative to carefully trim the matting, allowing the revolving doors to be reinstated.

🔧 GRIFFIN CASE STUDY | THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX AT MEDIA CITY, SALFORD QUAYS

📍 Media City, Salford Quays

Sometimes, the job isn’t just about fixing the problem in front of you. It’s about understanding the bigger picture and finding a solution that works for everyone involved.

We were called to a large office building at Media City, Salford Quays, where the aluminium and rubber entrance matting had expanded and curled upwards, creating a potential trip hazard at a busy entrance.

The issue was serious enough that the revolving doors had to be taken out of service until a solution could be found.

🔍 The challenge

Working closely with the client’s site maintenance team and the specialist revolving door engineers, we coordinated access to remove the doors and lift the entrance matting so we could investigate the cause.

Once removed, we found the substrate beneath was in sound condition. The problem wasn’t the base — the matting itself had expanded.

💡 The Griffin solution

Rather than simply removing the matting and leaving the revolving doors in storage while a replacement solution was arranged, we looked at what could be achieved there and then.

Using the skills and experience within our team, we decided to carefully trim the matting using a jigsaw, allowing it to fit correctly and enabling the revolving doors to be reinstated.

This practical solution helped get the entrance back into service without the unnecessary expense and disruption of storing the doors, arranging another visit and bringing multiple teams back to site.

🤝 More than just getting the job done

This was a task we hadn’t undertaken before, but that didn’t stop us from assessing the situation, drawing on our team’s practical skills and working collaboratively to achieve the client’s objective.

🔥 25-YEAR-OLD BOILER OUT — MODERN HEATING SYSTEM IN

Another domestic project completed by Griffin Installations in Salford.

Our customer had a 25-year-old non-condensing combi boiler and wanted to replace it with a modern Worcester Bosch 400 and relocate it to improve future access for servicing.

But this wasn’t simply a boiler swap.

We:

🔧 Relocated the boiler
🔥 Upgraded the gas supply from 15mm to 22mm copper
🧱 Made good the old flue opening and core drilled a new one
🚿 Reconfigured the heating pipework
💧 Installed a central-heating filter
📱 Reconnected the existing Hive thermostat
♨️ Installed new condensate pipework to the soil stack
🔩 Installed and neatly routed the new external gas pipework
✅ Tested and commissioned the complete system
