Delighted to have delivered the pitch and track works for the newly upgraded Mid Ulster Sports Arena!

The £3.6m project brings an eight-lane athletics track, a new 3G pitch, ballwall, walking trail and floodlighting to the site near Cookstown, creating a genuine multi-sports hub for the community.

Great to work alongside Mid Ulster District Council, Sport NI and McGurk Architects on a facility that will serve athletes and local clubs for years to come.

From World Cups to World Records, Every Millimetre Counts

The World Cup may be behind us, but the summer of sport isn't slowing down. As track and field takes centre stage, another kind of surface engineering comes into focus, one where hundredths of a second separate personal bests from records, and where the track itself is as much a performance factor as the athlete on it.

Athletics surfaces face a different set of demands to football pitches: consistent energy return, precise shock absorption, and uniform traction across every lane, in every condition.

At TPS, we apply the same engineering rigour to athletics surfaces as we do across our full range, because a surface that's inconsistent by even a few millimetres is the difference between winning and losing.

Watching World Cup football, it's easy to assume the pitch is just a backdrop.

It isn't.

Pile height, infill composition, backing structure, and shock absorption are all engineered decisions that shape how the game is played.

The same is true off the big stage. A "premium" surface isn't about branding, it's about specification: how a 50mm or 60mm pile performs under load, how infill affects traction, how a surface behaves in July heat or December frost.

This World Cup season is a good reminder: the surface is part of the performance, not just the setting for it.

Proud to hand over our completed works at Mid Ulster Sports Arena.

Contracted by Mid Ulster District Council and funded through Sport NI's National Lottery Multi Facility Fund, our team delivered an 8-lane athletics track, 3G synthetic pitch, floodlighting, fencing, and ancillary works, handed over on 19th June 2026 and taking bookings in the near future.

The facility is now Track Mark accredited for athletics and FIFA accredited for association football, bringing world-class surfaces to the heart of Mid Ulster.

A great project. A great outcome for the community.

Time flies when you're building something special.

11 days. 40 people. 40 machines. One landmark pitch.

Watch as Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium's playing surface is transformed from tired and ageing to a state-of-the-art hybrid stitched pitch, stripped back to the ground and rebuilt from scratch in just 11 days before sowing.

The first Derry City Football Club match back home is due to be played 26th June. Right on schedule.

It was a great chance to explore the technology, craft, and care that goes into building a surface at this level.
