The Old Wives Tale for the summer weather to come (which I have always believed to be just about right) is "Oak before Ash there'll be a splash, Ash before Oak you're in for a soak". Normally both leaves appear at roughly the same time but this year the Oak has trounced the Ash by about three weeks, so if the adage is correct we're in for the hottest summer that any of us can remember.

An excellent video showing you the right way to dead head roses and flowers.

Deadheading is the term used for the removal of flowers from plants when they are fading or dead. It is done to keep plants looking attractive and encourage more blooms, whether in beds and border, containers or hanging baskets.

It's very dry under the blooms. SO consider watering but do not splash the garden - best to really soak it once a week. If you've planted a new tree consider the treegator (below) - call or mail me if you want one. Thanks to S&G for this!

The old adage for the summer weather to come (which I have always believed to be just about right) is "Oak before Ash there'll be a splash, Ash before Oak you're in for a soak". Normally both leaves appear at roughly the same time but this year the Oak has trounced the Ash by about two weeks, so if the adage is correct we're in for the hottest summer that any of us can remember. So after the wettest winter on record, you might be advised to think about putting in an irrigation system!
