⚡ WORK COMPLETED THIS WEEK IN RUGELEY & THE SURROUNDING AREAS

Another week of varied electrical work, helping customers keep their homes safe, improve their lighting and maintain their properties.

Here’s a look at some of the work completed this week:

🔥 Smoke & heat alarm installations
Safety work completed, including replacing smoke alarms and installing heat alarms to help provide appropriate fire detection and peace of mind.

💡 Light fitting replacements
Old light fittings replaced with new ones. I’ve included before-and-after photos to show the difference a simple lighting upgrade can make.

🏢 Commercial water heater replacement
A water heater replaced at a commercial property to help keep essential facilities working.

💡 Office lighting upgraded to LED
Existing office lighting replaced with modern LED fittings, providing an updated lighting solution for the workspace.

🔥 RUGELEY — WHEN DID YOU LAST CHECK YOUR SMOKE ALARMS?

Something I’ve come across repeatedly this week while working in local homes has made me want to share a quick reminder.

I’ve replaced 7 smoke alarms this week that had been switched off because of persistent beeping and had passed their 10-year lifespan. Unfortunately, with the alarms switched off, the homes were left without the protection those alarms are designed to provide.

I’ve also replaced two sets of alarms that were past their recommended replacement date — I’ve included a photo of one of the old alarms to show just how easily they can be overlooked.

⚠️ Please take a couple of minutes to check yours:

🔹 Check the manufacturer’s replacement date.
🔹 Test your alarms regularly.
🔹 If an alarm keeps beeping, don’t simply switch it off and leave it. Find out why, and replace it if necessary.
🔹 Make sure you have working smoke alarms in your home.

Smoke alarms are easy to forget about, but they’re there to give you an early warning when it matters most.

🔥 PLEASE CHECK YOUR SMOKE ALARMS

Another two smoke alarms replaced today — both were 5 years past their recommended replacement date.

The alarms had been switched off because they had been beeping constantly, and had unfortunately been left that way for years.

That means the home had been without properly functioning smoke alarms for a long period of time.

Today, those alarms have been replaced and the protection they provide has been restored. ✅

I’m coming across a lot of homes with smoke alarms that are past their recommended replacement date, so I wanted to highlight this to everyone.

Please take a few minutes to check your own alarms:

🔴 Check the replacement date
🔋 Make sure they’re powered and working
🔊 Test them regularly
⚠️ Don’t simply switch them off if they start beeping — investigate the reason and replace the alarm if it has reached the end of its service life.

I have another 3 alarms to replace tomorrow and a further 2 on Friday, so this is becoming something I’m seeing more and more.

A smoke alarm is something you hope you’ll never need — but when you do need it, you really want it to work.

⚡ Back on the tools!

We use electrical sockets every day, but they’re often something we don’t think about until there’s a problem.

Take a quick look around your home and check for:

🔥 ARE YOUR SMOKE ALARMS STILL IN DATE?

Smoke alarms are there to provide an early warning in the event of a fire, but they shouldn’t simply be fitted and forgotten.

It’s important to:

✅ Regularly test your alarms
✅ Check the manufacturer’s replacement date
✅ Replace alarms that have reached the end of their recommended lifespan
✅ Make sure you have suitable alarms in the appropriate areas of your home
