Check out this quick swap we did today. Swipe to see the difference!

The Problem:
In the first photo, you’ll see a fine mesh "bird guard." While it keeps the crows out, it’s a total no-go for solid fuel (wood or smokeless coal). The tight mesh gets clogged with soot and tar incredibly fast, which can choke your fire or—even worse—cause dangerous fumes to back up into your home.

The Solution:
We installed a dedicated Solid Fuel Cowl.

• Better Airflow: The wider cage allows smoke and gases to escape freely.

• Weather Protection: The rain cap reduces dampness in the flue.

• Built to Last: High-grade materials that can handle the intense heat of a stove.

If you’ve recently moved into a house with a fire, or haven't had your cowl checked in years, make sure to get booked in with Elkins Chimney Sweeps so that we can make sure you’re good to go.

Don't let a "quick fix" become a safety hazard! 🏠🔥

We recently came across this situation: a customer asked a company to repair their broken cowl, only to have a Gas and Oil cowl slapped right over the existing one.

We provided the correct, safe terminal for LESS than what they paid for the incorrect "fix." 💸
Why it matters:

• Safety First: Using the wrong cowl can lead to poor ventilation and dangerous carbon monoxide buildup.
• Expertise Counts: We carry everything needed to ensure your terminal is fully compliant and safe.
• Value: Doing it right the first time saves you money and stress.

💡 Pro Tip:
Always consult a The National Association of Chimney Sweeps (NACS) or HETAS trained professional. We have the specific training and knowledge to ensure your home stays warm and your family stays safe.

Don't settle for "good enough" when it comes to your chimney. Give us a shout to get sorted properly!
