That's what a mum in Leamington Spa told us, two days after our engineers fitted her family's air conditioning.

Her teenage daughter has complex autism and sensory needs. Heat triggers sensory overload, and last summer it affected her sleep, her eating and her ability to learn. She's educated at home, so the house is also her classroom.

The family were one of 13 nominations for our summer giveaway, and every single nomination came from someone else: a friend, a carer, a support worker who could see what a difference cooling would make.

We've also promised them a free service next year to keep everything running as it should.

We keep people comfortable all year round. Turns out parrots need the same.

Joseph is 10, and he's the son of one of our customers. This weekend he cycled 43 miles, the distance from his front door to WILD Zoological Park as the parrot flies, to help fund a new heated parrot house.

WILD is home to the UK's largest free flying flock of macaws, including blue throated macaws, a species down to around 200 left in the wild. The new house needs to be ready before winter.

Our apprentices are the future of this business.

They learn on real jobs, alongside engineers who have been doing this a long time. They pick up the technical side, of course, but also the part that matters just as much: how to talk to customers, how to leave a home tidy, how to do the job properly when nobody is watching.

Training our own has always been how we do it. Heating, and now cooling too. The trade needs more skilled people, and we would rather grow them ourselves.

The Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant went up, but not for everyone.

If your home runs on oil or LPG, you could now get £9,000 towards an air source heat pump, up from £7,500. If you are on mains gas, the £7,500 still applies.

The higher rate runs until 31 March 2027. There is no means test, nothing to repay, and your installer handles the application for you.
