Upstairs Radiators upgrade complete 🛠️✨

We came back to finish the job after installing these designer radiators downstairs, the customers like them so much that they decided to install them upstairs aswell!
Now the whole house matches!

This was found today on a New build development in Royston on its first annual service.

1️⃣ The Flue: Look at that rough, unchamfered cut. Rushed installations lead to damaged seals, loose joints, and leaking fumes.

2️⃣ The Fail: Flue integrity test failed causing products of combustion to leak in the air intake side of the boiler which could lead to incomplete combustion and CO

3️⃣ The Fix: Properly installed, fully sealed, and safe readings secured.

Never skip your first annual service just because a house is fresh off the build.

Emergency boiler install to the rescue! 🚨👶🔥

When a 20 year old boiler broke down in a house with a newborn baby, getting heating and hot water restored fast was the top priority.
Dave and Harry tackled this one, getting everything sorted quickly and efficiently.

Given the cost of replacement parts for an aging unit, installing a brand new boiler with a full manufacturer guarantee was by far the best, most economical move giving the landlord long term protection and peace of mind.

To keep the whole system running efficiently, they also fitted a new Salus programmable roomstat.

While on site, Dave and Harry upgraded the showers too:

New Bar Showers Installed: The old thermostatic cartridges were completely seized from hard water build up, and the shower head cradle upstairs was broken causing the shower head to constantly drop down. They stripped them out and replaced them with fresh, modern bar showers.

From cold and stressed to warm, safe, and comfortable, ready for the new arrival to enjoy home. Great work by the team! 🛁⚡️

Holiday souvenirs don’t get much better than this. ✈️✨

Our client brought these stunning backsplash tiles all the way home from their travels, bringing a piece of their holiday back into everyday life.

They handled the wall panelling themselves, while we took care of installing the floor standing basin unit, basin, tap, and all the behind the scenes plumbing.

🚨 FLUE INTEGRITY ALERT! 🚨

We recently came across two boilers on Thursday that failed their flue integrity tests. Most homeowners see a boiler flue as just a simple pipe sticking out of the wall, but on a room-sealed gas boiler, it’s actually a high tech concentric (pipe-within-a-pipe) system.
Here is how the internal and external parts work together:

🔥 1. The Inner Pipe (Exhaust Duct):
This internal core carries all the combustion gases safely away from the boiler and vents them outside into the open air.

💨 2. The Outer Pipe (Air Intake Duct):
The outer sleeve draws fresh air from outside directly into the boiler’s sealed combustion chamber to feed the flame, keeping the appliance completely isolated from room air.

⚠️ Why Flue Integrity Matters:
If the inner pipe loses its seal or develops a breach, combustion gases bleed into the outer fresh air intake.

Vitiated Air Intake: The boiler re-circulates its own exhaust fumes back into the burner, leading to incomplete combustion and generating higher levels of Carbon Monoxide (CO).

Risk to the Home: If incomplete combustion occurs and there are secondary breaches in the boiler’s room sealed casing, these harmful combustion gases can migrate directly into the living space, posing a serious Carbon Monoxide risk to occupants.

A flue assembly can look completely fine on the outside while being compromised on the inside. That’s why flue gas integrity testing during an annual service isn’t just routine, it’s vital for complete peace of mind. 🛠️

What a Transformation! 🛁✨

This Royston project was a great example of how much work goes on behind the scenes before a single tile even goes down.

The space was in real need of an overhaul, so we completely reconfigured the layout, removing the bath and an old cupboard to fit a spacious shower and open up the entire room.

Bringing it all together took some serious groundwork. The walls were well out of level, requiring plenty of preparation to get them straight and true for tiling. The original floor was completely replaced, and with both the floor and ceiling running 25mm out of level from side to side, a lot of time went into rectifying the structures so every line sat just right.

It was a challenging build, but seeing the bright, functional, and modern space at the end made all the groundwork worth it. 🛠️🚿

Unvented Cylinder Install -Barkway💧🔥

We pulled out a faulty unvented Cylinder that was constantly passing water out of the TPRV.

Once we got it disconnected and removed, we found it was packed full of heavy limescale.
We installed a fresh, like for like replacement, tidied up the pipework, tested the system, and got the hot water running safely again.
