🔥 HEATING MYTH BUSTED! 🔥
Is it cheaper to leave your heating on low all day?
If you've got a gas boiler, generally the answer is NO.
Your home is constantly losing heat to outside. If you leave the heating running all day, your boiler has to keep replacing that lost heat — even when nobody's home.
A few simple tips can help:
⏰ Use your heating controls – schedule your heating around when you're actually at home.
🌡️ Try a sensible temperature – around 18–21°C is a common starting point for many households.
🏠 Don't unnecessarily heat an empty house – timers and smart thermostats can help.
🔥 Turning the thermostat right up won't heat the house faster – it'll simply keep the heating running until it reaches that higher temperature.
❄️ Got a heat pump? That's different. Heat pumps generally work more efficiently at lower temperatures over longer periods, so a low-and-steady approach can often be more appropriate.
We're going to be sharing plenty more straightforward heating advice over the coming weeks — hopefully helping you use your heating more efficiently and understand your system a little better.
