A little look at what’s been keeping me busy this week at Yorkshire Furniture Repairs 🔧🛋️

There’s been plenty of variety:

🐶 My favourite this week has to be the table leg. Someone’s little pup had been busy doing some “customising” of their own! A satisfying repair and a great example of why it’s worth checking what can be repaired before replacing it. Made even more enjoyable with the puppy wanting to play ‘fetch’ whilst doing the repair!

A fantastic transformation completed at The Carpenters in Tickhill! 🍻

We replaced the tired, worn fabric seating with brand new, hard-wearing contract faux leather, giving the pub a much brighter, cleaner and more modern look while keeping its traditional character.

✨ Another sofa brought back to life ✨

This beautiful Italian leather sofa had been loved for over 20 years and was starting to show heavy wear, flattened seating and dried-out leather — but the customer didn’t want to lose the original distressed character that makes this piece unique.

Rather than over-restoring it, we carefully worked with the leather’s natural aged finish by professionally feeding and conditioning the leather to rehydrate it and bring back depth and richness while keeping that authentic vintage look.

We also completely replaced the seat interiors with brand new high-quality foams to restore the comfort and support properly.

The customer had previously had another company attempt a repair, but unfortunately the seating had simply been packed with foam without properly addressing the comfort and structure underneath. We stripped everything back and carried out the job correctly from the inside out.

Safe to say the transformation speaks for itself 👌

Another transformation brought back to life 🔥

This worn leather armchair had seen better days — heavy cracking, faded colour, and a tired seat cushion from years of use.

We carried out a full restoration:

Another leather sofa brought back to life, 👌

This one is finished in aniline leather – one of the most natural and premium types of leather you can get. Unlike coated or heavily treated leathers, aniline keeps its raw character, meaning you see all the natural grain, markings, and texture. That’s what gives it that soft, luxurious feel… but it also means it wears differently over time.

With daily use, aniline leather will:
• Develop a rich patina (that aged, vintage look)
• Show signs of wear more easily – creasing, fading, and drying
• Absorb oils and moisture, which can dull the finish if not maintained

On this restoration, the leather had started to dry out and lose its comfort. To bring it back:
✔️ All seat cushions were fully re-padded to restore support and shape
✔️ A professional leather conditioner was applied to re-hydrate and nourish the material
✔️ The natural character was preserved while improving the overall look and feel

Now it’s back to being a comfortable, standout piece – ready to wear in beautifully for years to come 🙌

Another sofa saved from landfill ♻️

This week’s big restoration project took us to Brampton, where this corner group sofa had lost its comfort and appearance after years of daily use.

We started with a full re-padding of all seats and backs — bringing the cushions back to life with that fresh, supportive bounce.

Next, the leather was professionally cleaned, treated, and refinished with a fresh colour coating to restore its original look.

The result? A sofa that looks great, feels even better, and is ready for many more years of use. 🛋️
