One of the biggest problems in the roofing industry at the moment is companies roofing straight over the top of existing flat roofs to save time and money. On the surface the roof may β€œfeel solid”, but what’s really happening underneath the covering?

In many cases all the hidden problems are simply being covered up:
❌ Trapped moisture
❌ Rotten decking and timbers
❌ Failed insulation
❌ Condensation issues
❌ Incorrect roof build-up

Flat roofs are not all the same. A roof should be designed correctly as either:
βœ”οΈ A cold deck system β€” which requires proper ventilation to allow airflow and prevent condensation
βœ”οΈ A warm deck system β€” where insulation is installed above the deck to keep the structure warm and dry

This pitch roof was originally covered with cement fibre slates, but unfortunately the roof pitch was too shallow for the system ❌

Over time this type of setup can cause water ingress, capillary action and ongoing leak issues β€” especially during heavy rain and bad weather.

After inspecting the roof, the most cost-effective and reliable solution was to convert the area over to a flat roofing system instead of trying to patch a roof design that was never suitable in the first place πŸ‘Œ
