A wasp trapped indoors or separated from its nest will typically die within 2 to 4 days if it has no access to food or water, though it could survive for a week if it finds a sugar source. Generally, worker wasps lose their ability to survive long without the colony's shared resources and collective energy.Keep in mind that the lifespan depends heavily on the type of wasp and whether it's a worker or a queen:Worker Wasps (Standard): Without the nest, workers generally live only 3 to 4 days. Even within a healthy colony, their natural lifespan is only 12 to 22 days.Queen Wasps: Queens can survive for up to a year. If separated from the nest, they may live for 1 to 2 weeks. In the autumn, new queens leave the nest and enter a hibernation state (diapause) to survive the winter.Male Wasps (Drones): They seldom survive more than a week without food, and their primary purpose is to mate before the colony dies off naturally.
