Today it is an entry to Installer of the Month by Essex Pest Proof - Local Pest Control with a lovely little balcony proofing job in Rayleigh ☀️🐦

David’s client had been dealing with pigeons perching along the balcony rail of their apartment, which meant one very annoying thing: pigeon poo to clean up every single day. Not exactly what you want when you step outside with a cuppa, hoping to enjoy a bit of fresh air.

Balconies should be easy, pleasant spaces to use, especially in the summer, but once pigeons have claimed the rail as their favourite perch, the mess can build up quickly. As well as being tiresome to keep cleaning, pigeon fouling is unhygienic and can make the whole area feel pretty unusable.

David fitted our Defender Thistle Bird Spikes, which are ideal for this kind of situation where a more discreet finish is needed. At only 62 mm high, Thistle keeps a much lower profile than traditional spikes, but it is still a little powerhouse with 80 pins per strip. It is designed to last too, with a 15 year material warranty when fitted correctly.

We also love the detail here. David has popped a strip onto the arm of the bracket and looped a piece neatly over the light, which not only closes off those tempting little landing spots, but also looks surprisingly arty. Practical bird control with a bit of balcony sculpture energy 🎨🐦

Before & After: Rodent Contamination Clean-Up
