🚨 If your smoke alarms have a replace by date of 2020... they are officially retired!
Most people don’t realize that smoke alarms have a 10 year lifespan. After a decade, the sensors degrade, meaning they might not warn you when it actually matters. If yours look like these two, they’ve been expired for six years!
Look on the side. Many newer models have a sticker right on the outer rim so you don’t even have to take them down to check the date.
If you don’t see a sticker on the side, gently twist the alarm off its bracket and check the label on the back.
Do the math. Look for the Manufacture Date, if it’s been 10 years (or if the sticker is deteriorated beyond reading), it’s time for an upgrade.
Don’t wait for the annoying low battery beep, or worse, an actual emergency.
Go check yours today!
