One of the UK’s oldest bowls greens — brought back from the brink.
This green has history most lawns can only dream of: once part of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s estate, handed to Henry VIII, with records of the green itself dating back to 1759. That’s nearly 270 years of play on this turf.
When we took it on, it needed serious work. Poor access meant we couldn’t get big machinery anywhere near it — so 9 tonnes of sports sand went down entirely by hand. Slow, brutal, and exactly the kind of job we don’t shy away from.
One of the toughest restorations we’ve done. One of the most satisfying to finish.
That’s the job at Just Lawns — we don’t do easy, we do right. 💪
