Meet Craig!

Craig Townend has over 35 years’ experience in the construction materials industry, having started his career working for a national business, where he developed extensive expertise in aggregates, asphalt, logistics, customer service and operational management.

He then progressed into commercial and sales leadership roles, building a strong reputation for developing long-term customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities and delivering commercial growth across Yorkshire.

Craig is now the External Account Manager at Lightwater Quarries, where he is responsible for supporting customers across Yorkshire with aggregates, ready-mix concrete and construction materials. Bringing more than three decades of industry experience, he is committed to building lasting customer relationships, providing expert advice and delivering the highest levels of service and support.

Did you know that we are farmers too?

Regenerative farming practices are used across the estate.

We use direct drilling and cover cropping techniques to minimise soil disturbance, helping to improve soil health, retain moisture, and protect valuable nutrients.

Farming is a key part of the Lightwater Group and this year's crops include: Winter Wheat, Spring Wheat, Winter Barley, Spring Oats and Oilseed R**e (OSR) Beans

By growing a mix of spring and winter crops, we create a diverse rotation that helps manage weeds naturally and reduces our reliance on chemical controls.

A healthy rotation means healthier soils, stronger crops, and a more sustainable farming system.

Foundations poured in Wetherby.

It's always good to see a project start with solid foundations!

We recently supplied the concrete for this foundation pour in Wetherby, working alongside Pump4U, who handled the pumping and install on site.

📍 Ripon Town Centre

Another local project underway in the heart of Ripon.

We recently supplied the concrete for this new shop floor refurbishment, with the concrete expertly pumped into place by Pump4U. Great to be involved in helping transform another town centre property and supporting local businesses.

A fantastic example of local businesses working together to deliver another quality project in Ripon.

Farming is an important part of our business, as is helping nature thrive around our fields.

As part of our environmental stewardship schemes, we have established 6-metre grass margins around the edges of our fields.

These margins provide valuable habitats for insects, birds, and small mammals, helping to increase biodiversity across the estate.
