Churchill Living is a privately owned, family run company. Founded in 1994 by Spencer and Clinton McCarthy, formerly Churchill Retirement Living.

Churchill Living's mission is to create thriving communities for the over 60s that offer an enhanced lifestyle, peace of mind and freedom to live life at its best. The company originally started out building stone and thatched cottages in and around Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire, under the name of Emlor Homes. oted “Housebuilder of the Year” by What House Magazine. The brothers then decided to move into the sheltered housing market in 2000. After the success of its first development “Avon Lodge” in Southbourne they decided to sell all their open market sites and to concentrate in the retirement market. The Brothers are the Sons of John McCarthy MBE who founded McCarthy & Stone in 1964. McCarthy & Stone built their first retirement development in 1977, since then they have built over 60,000 retirement flats. John McCarthy left McCarthy & Stone in 2004 following a failed buyout bid by his sons; he is now a Non Executive Investor Director with Churchill Living.

🪂‼️ He's back for more! After completing his incredible 10,000ft skydive and abseil down Spinnaker Tower earlier this year, 92-year-old Resident Alan is preparing for his next adrenaline-adventure!

This September, Alan from Manns Lodge in Cranleigh will take on the fastest zipline in the world at Penrhyn Quarry in North Wales - his third big challenge of 2026! 😲

Alan will be marking his 92nd birthday with the zipline adventure, while raising much-needed funds for Parkinson's UK, a charity that means a lot to his friends and neighbours at Manns Lodge. Since moving to the Churchill community, Alan has been keen to give something back and support a cause close to those around him. ❤️

🌟 We’re delighted to share some wonderful fundraising news from Bechers Court in Aintree!

Residents at the development, along with family and friends, have come together over the years to organise a variety of events in support of Woodlands Hospice, raising over £2,500 for the local charity so far. From raffles and prize bingo to afternoon teas, sponsored walks and bacon butty mornings, there have been plenty of opportunities to come together while supporting a great cause. 🎉

Their fundraising efforts have recently been recognised with a Gold Leaf on the Woodlands Hospice Tree of Life, a special tribute celebrating their support for the hospice. 🌳💚

A huge thank you to everyone at Bechers Court who has supported the fundraising for Woodlands Hospice and helped make such a positive difference to this important local charity. 👏

🎪 What a fantastic day we had at Sanderson Lodge, Selsdon, at our recent circus-themed event!

That’s exactly how Sharon and her brother Paul feel since their mum Brenda moved into Thackeray Lodge. At 92, Brenda is enjoying her independence, keeping in touch with old friends as well as making new ones while getting involved in the social life at the development whenever she chooses.

For Sharon and Paul, knowing that their mum is in a safe and welcoming environment, with help available when she needs it, means they can spend more time enjoying being together and less time worrying about the practical things. ✨
