Here’s a recently completed job in Reigate, carrying out structural repairs to this porch roof, where the existing supporting post has rotten away and corner of the porch roof has started pulling away from the building.
We stripped the roof back to the structural timbers removing the roof covering & old timber fascia & cladding, jacked up porch to be level again, removed the old post, installed a new C24 100mm by 100mm post, then we installed 10 through bolt anchors to pull the wall plate back into the building to square up the roof again & close the the remaining gaps, we also installed plenty of construction grade structural screws with wafer heads to help strengthen up the structure further.
We then fitted new rose wood UPVC fascia & cladding with brown guttering, layer in 400mm of mineral wool insulation build up to excess current building regulations, fitted fascia vents and our duel layer eave protection system, then reinstating the roof covering reusing the existing tiles, with a new air & vapour permeable roof membrane & grade BS5534 battens.
End result is a porch roof built better than the original structure and no longer sagging to one side.
