A little update from us at SGE!

We’ve completed Constructionline’s Social Value requirements and have a new certificate to show for it.

But what does social value actually mean for us?

It’s the things we do alongside our everyday electrical work, from helping apprentices learn the trade and supporting local causes to recycling our cable waste through Every Cable Counts.

It’s also becoming a bigger part of how contractors choose who they work with, so it’s good to have everything documented through Constructionline.

Nothing fancy, just doing our bit where we can and looking for ways to do more.

We need to apologise. Apparently, we’ve created a bit of a problem… 😬

It seems our Pride in the Project approach has had some unintended consequences.

Straight containment.
Neat installations.
Attention to the details nobody will ever see.
And a slightly unhealthy obsession with getting the finish right.

The result?

Clients and site teams have started expecting it every time.

Even worse… some of them keep asking us back. 🤦‍♂️

Because while a lot of electrical work eventually disappears behind walls, ceilings and finishes, the workmanship behind it still matters.

Good installation isn’t just about getting everything working. It’s about planning properly, installing neatly and leaving behind work we’re happy to put our name to.

Unfortunately, after careful consideration, we’ve decided we won’t be lowering our standards anytime soon.

So, to anyone affected by our excessive attention to detail…

A great day at Kent Construction Expo 2026

Stephen spent the day connecting with businesses from across the construction industry, catching up with familiar faces and making some really valuable new connections.

The Meet the Buyers sessions gave us the opportunity to speak directly with Broadland Construction and Beardwell Construction, alongside some really positive conversations with exhibitors including Buxton Building Contractors, WW Martin Ltd, Kier Construction, Neilcott Construction, Baxall Construction and Hunter Stein Construction.

It was also a great opportunity to strengthen our existing relationships and explore new opportunities within our network and with supply chain partners.

There’s plenty to follow up on, some exciting conversations to continue and hopefully some great opportunities to work together in the future.

Thanks to Kent Construction Expo for bringing so many people from across the industry together in one place.

A slightly different Friday morning for SGE-Services today 💚☕

Stephen joined the team at HML Camberley for their Macmillan Coffee Morning today — although there was a slight last-minute panic when he realised he’d forgotten the cake! 😂

The original doughnut plan didn’t quite work out, so Marks & Spencer came to the rescue with a Victoria sponge and some Mini Colin the Caterpillars 🐛🍰 — crisis averted!

We work with HML through our electrical and property maintenance services, so it was lovely to step away from the usual working day, catch up with some familiar faces and support a brilliant cause at the same time.

The Macmillan Coffee Morning brings people together while raising vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, and we’re really pleased SGE could play a small part today. 💚

A big thank you to HML Camberley for the invitation and to everyone involved in organising the morning.

At SGE-Services Ltd, we’ve made recessed consumer units our standard approach across our developments as part of our Pride in the Project standards.

Why?

A recessed installation helps avoid unsightly surface SWA sub-main cabling, saves space and gives a functional part of the electrical installation a much cleaner, sleeker finish.

It takes more planning — but for us, the details matter.

A little look behind the scenes

From the initial plan and equipment arriving on site, through to the finished smoke ventilation installation.

These systems might not be something most people notice day-to-day, but they can play an incredibly important role during a fire particularly in buildings with a Stay Put strategy, where controlling smoke and helping protect common escape routes is vital.

We install, test, service and maintain smoke ventilation systems and have been pleased to work alongside Вентиляция, изготовление - монтаж  on this one.

Definitely one of those systems you hope is never needed, but absolutely want working properly if it is.

Turning waste into something worthwhile ♻️

At SGE-Services Ltd, we’ve started saving and recycling our cable offcuts rather than allowing them to go to waste.

Today, we took our first collection of scrap copper in — and we’re really pleased to be able to donate £180 to Jigsaw South East. ❤️
This is just the beginning, and we’re hoping to continue building up our scrap collections and making regular donations.
For us, it’s a simple way of becoming a little more sustainable while supporting a charity and cause that means a lot to us.
