Colour lovers, this one’s for you. 🌈

When you want to bring plenty of personality into a room, it helps to have a floor that doesn’t fight for attention.
Natural Prime Oak from Karndean Flooring does exactly that.. Its light sandy tones and soft oak grain give you a warm, natural base, leaving you free to have a bit more fun with everything else.

Bright chairs? Absolutely.
Striped walls? Why not.
A mix of colours, prints and things you’ve collected over the years? Even better.

Be bold, we love this!

You can definitely feel the change now, can’t you? 🍂

The schools are back, the mornings are a bit cooler and the first autumn leaves are starting to turn. It’s that time of year when home starts to feel a bit more important again.

Warm Ash from Karndean Flooring is a warm, mid-toned wood shade giving plenty of natural variation from plank to plank, making a room feel lovely and lived-in without making it feel dark or heavy.

We like it with the chocolate brown, soft lighting and darker walls, cosy and autumnal, but still really modern.

If autumn has got you thinking about making a few changes at home, pop into your local Poplar Carpets showroom and have a look through our Karndean Design Flooring collection. You can take samples home too, so you can see how they look in your own space and light.

Traditional or modern? Which is more your style?Sometimes you don’t actually have to choose!

Greige Oak kind of falls somewhere in the middle.
It has the grain and character you’d expect from a classic French oak, but the beige-grey colouring gives it a much more contemporary feel. So you could put it alongside exposed brick, wooden beams and warm neutrals just as easily as crisp white walls, black accents and a more minimal kitchen.

That flexibility is a big plus when you’re choosing flooring for more than one room too. You don’t want to redecorate the whole house around your floor, you want a floor that works with the home you already have.

If you’re currently surrounded by paint charts, kitchen samples and far too many flooring choices, bring them with you to one of our showrooms. Our team can help you narrow things down and find a Karndean Design Flooring option that actually works with your room.

The inspiration for this floor starts in one of Italy’s oldest mountain quarries!

Calacatta d’Oro from Karndean Flooring is based on Calacatta Borghini, a rare and highly sought-after Italian marble, known for its beautiful grey and soft gold veining.
And Karndean have captured the look brilliantly.

It feels elegant and luxurious, but the warmth running through the design stops it feeling cold or overly formal. This would look good in kitchens, bathrooms and open-plan rooms where you want a lighter floor with a bit of character.

Of course, you’re getting the look of beautiful Italian marble without having to live with real marble, making it a much more practical choice for an everyday home.
If Calacatta d’Oro has caught your eye, come and see the Karndean Design Flooring range at Poplar Carpets. We can help with samples, talk through your options and arrange a measure when you’re ready.

There’s something about a slate-effect floor that just works. It adds a bit of depth and character without taking over the room, and Grey Riven Slate is a lovely choice if you want those natural stone tones but need something practical enough for everyday life.

The mix of stormy greys and subtle variation means every tile has its own character. And depending on the look you’re going for, you can keep the layout clean and simple or add design strips and borders to give the floor a little more definition.

Being part of the Karndean Flooring range, you get that convincing stone look without the upkeep you might expect from natural slate – ideal for kitchens, hallways and busy family spaces.

If you’re thinking about changing your flooring this autumn, come and have a look at Karndean Design Flooring at Poplar Carpets. Seeing the colours and textures properly, alongside your other options, makes choosing so much easier, and our team are always happy to help.

Back to school means the return of this lot… 🎒

School shoes by the door. Bags dumped wherever they land. Crumbs under the kitchen table. After-school snacks. Homework spread across every available surface.

And somehow, muddy footprints when it hasn’t even rained. 😅

September is when our homes suddenly have to work a little bit harder again.

That’s why we think Pale Limed Oak from Karndean Flooring is such a good fit for busy family homes. You get the lovely warmth and character of an oak floor, but with a practical surface that’s easy to keep clean when everyday family life inevitably takes over.

The pale, neutral tones also make a lovely backdrop for kitchens and open-plan family spaces – light, relaxed and easy to live with, without feeling too precious.

Because beautiful flooring is great. Beautiful flooring that can cope with the school run is even better.

Pop into your local Poplar Carpets showroom to see our Karndean Design Flooring collection, pick up some samples and have a chat with the team about what will work best for your home.

Good luck to everyone heading back to school over the next few days – parents included! ☕️

One last long summer weekend… ☀️

The last Bank Holiday before the school bags come back out, the alarms get set again and September routines begin.

So whether yours involves a garden full of people, a family day out, a BBQ if the weather behaves, or simply doing absolutely nothing for a change, we hope you get to enjoy it.

Because as much as we love talking about flooring at Poplar Carpets, ultimately it’s about the homes and the lives that happen on it.

The busy mornings. The people coming and going. The quiet Sunday afternoons. The children running through from the garden. And those rare Bank Holiday Mondays when nobody needs to be anywhere.

Enjoy the long weekend – September is only a day away! 💛

From all of us at Poplar Carpets.

After the summer we’ve had, it feels strange to say it… but we’re quite looking forward to this! 🔥

The children are heading back to school, the evenings are slowly drawing in and those cooler autumn days aren’t too far away.

There’s something lovely about getting the house feeling cosy again - open fires, lamps on a little earlier and rooms that feel warm and welcoming. And flooring plays a bigger part in that than you might think.

This is French Oak from Karndean Flooring. Its light blond oak tones, natural grain and subtle knots give you that lovely warmth of traditional timber, while keeping the overall look calm, light and neutral.

It’s a brilliant choice if you like the idea of a cosy home but don’t want anything too dark or heavy - and that herringbone layout works beautifully with a more traditional room like this.

If an autumn home refresh is on your list, pop into Poplar Carpets and have a look at our Karndean Design Flooring collection in person. We can help with samples, advice, measuring and fitting across the West Midlands.

And be honest… are you hanging onto summer for as long as possible, or are you ready for the fire to go on? 😁 🔥

Montpellier is one of our faves!

The classic black and white combination gives this Karndean Flooring design plenty of character, with octagonal Lace tiles, contrasting Nero insets and that brilliant detailed border to finish it off.

We can see this working beautifully in a hallway or entrance like this. It makes an impact as soon as you walk through the door, but because the colours are so classic, it won’t date quickly either.

Montpellier (MONT-01) is a great choice if you like traditional tiled floors but want something that feels smart enough for a more contemporary home too.

Come and have a look at the Karndean Design Flooring range at Poplar Carpets. We’re a family-run West Midlands flooring business, and our showroom teams are always happy to talk through the different designs, borders and options without making choosing a new floor more complicated than it needs to be.

Pop in, have a browse and take some samples home with you.

Grey stone flooring has become a favourite lately, it gives you a brilliant starting point for your look without dictating everything else in the room.

Karndean Flooring Metro Grey (VGT2403) takes its inspiration from natural limestone, with a soft mid-grey colour and subtle markings that add just enough texture and interest.

It looks particularly good across open-plan spaces like this, where the same flooring can flow from kitchen to dining and living areas and help everything feel connected.

Keep things light and neutral, warm it up with natural wood, or bring in stronger colours through furniture and accessories – Metro Grey is happy to sit in the background and let you change the rest of the room around it.

If you’re planning a new kitchen, renovation or open-plan space, come and see the Karndean Design Flooring collection at Poplar Carpets. Our team can help you compare designs, take home samples and find the right flooring for the way you actually live.
