Older than your great great grandparents.

Older than the railway.

Older than electricity.

We're currently re-roofing a property in Rosedale using reclaimed handmade clay cowshed pantiles that are likely between 100 and 250 years old.

For the eagle eyed viewers, you'll notice the ridge line isn't straight.
Of course it isn't.

This building has been standing in the North Yorkshire Moors for over 200 years. The walls aren't straight, the gables aren't straight and the ridge isn't straight. That's part of its character.
Every tile is different. Many had no nail holes, the sizes vary massively, and getting everything to line through takes a lot more work than a modern roof covering.

This wouldn't have been my first choice of roof covering, but preserving the character of the building was important to the customer.

Our job isn't to make a 200 year old roof look new.
It's to make it look like we were never there.

This is probably the most boring roof we've installed this year.

Here's a roof you'll probably never see again.

And that's exactly the point.

We've just completed this EPDM rubber flat roof on a social housing property.

No fancy details.
No complicated design.
No groundbreaking innovation.

Just a seamless rubber roof with a 20 year warranty that's designed to do one thing well.

Keep the water out.

The tenant will see it today.

Then, with any luck, they'll completely forget it exists.

That's what we like.

The best roofing isn't the roof people keep talking about. It's the roof nobody has to think about because it just quietly gets on with the job.

Job done.

Recently completed the main roof on this absolute beast.

Natural Glendyne slates, major timber replacement works and all completed carefully within conservation area requirements where keeping the character of the building was a huge part of the project.

This one has taken some serious work from the team and the drone shots really show the scale of it.

Looking forward to getting back to complete the lower roof once the scaffold comes down.

Big credit to everyone involved on this one. Proper roofing. Proper craftsmanship.

Absolutely buzzing for Middlesbrough F.C. and the whole Teesside area.

Another trip to Wembley. Never thought we’d be saying that after everything that’s gone on.

Football means a lot round here. It gives people something to get behind and puts the area on the map. The town will be absolutely bouncing.

And as for all the Spygate stuff… cheaters shouldn’t get rewarded. Funny how football works out sometimes.

Buzzing for the fans, the club and everyone connected with Boro.

Good to see one of our team, Alex, representing Samuel Moore Roofing at the SkillBuild competition at Redcar & Cleveland College this today

It was Alex’s first time doing anything like this and he was up against some strong competition, including one competitor who came fourth nationally in last year’s finals.

Alex did himself proud and came away with second place, which is a brilliant result for a first attempt. More importantly, he put himself out there, gained experience, and represented the company well.

Fair play to everyone involved in organising and judging the event as well. It was great catching up with good people from across the roofing industry. Roofing is a small trade and it is good seeing so many people genuinely trying to support the next generation coming through.

Well done to everyone who took part.

Finished project at The Firlands, Marske.

Now the scaffolding is down, we’ve finally been able to get back and capture the finished roof properly with the drone.

This project included a full roof replacement along with new fascias, soffits, and guttering, giving the property a complete external refresh and long term protection from the North East weather.

The customer has already left us a brilliant review, which is always appreciated by the team after the hard work that goes into these projects.

At Samuel Moore Roofing, we take pride in delivering quality workmanship whether it’s a small repair or a full re-roof.

Big or small, we cover it all.
