🚨⚡ WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON UP HERE?! 😳

A new customer in Woodley, Reading contacted us after discovering a seriously poor electrical installation in their attic while installing new flooring.

A previous bathroom fitter had installed single-insulated downlights with no earth, alongside some questionable cable routing. 😬

But even more concerning… the floor joists had been drilled incorrectly to accommodate the cables.

Structural joists shouldn’t simply be drilled wherever necessary. Incorrectly positioned or oversized holes can weaken the timber and potentially affect the structural integrity of the floor.

Thankfully, BS Electrical were called in to put it right. 🔧⚡

✅ Rewired all bathroom downlights
✅ Corrected the cable installation
✅ Installed appropriate earthing/protective measures
✅ Fully inspected and tested the work
✅ Left the installation safe and compliant

Our BS Electrical engineers have been in Central Reading this week carrying out another full electrical rewire — and this one certainly kept the guys busy!

What started as a rewire quickly turned into loads of additional works and extras, with our engineers having to adapt, overcome the challenges and keep the project moving.
