A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at Futurescape this week ▶️

Across two busy days, we were proud to announce the finalists for the APL Awards 2027, host our Annual Meeting, and welcome members and prospective members to our stand to catch up with the team and learn more about the work we do to champion and support the landscaping industry 💪

Beyond the exhibition halls, visitors got hands-on in our practical demonstration areas. From putting their skills to the test in our block paving challenge to hearing from APL Chair David Strows on the new British Standard, BS 7533-102, there were plenty of opportunities to learn, connect and share expertise 🌿

💧 The HTA has been invited to join the government’s Flood and Drought Resilience Taskforce, which will meet in person for the first time tomorrow, during .

We’ve been calling for a more joined-up approach to water resilience, recognising that horticultural businesses can face both excessive rainfall and prolonged dry conditions, sometimes within the same year.

Our Chief Executive, Fran Barnes, will have the opportunity to raise the challenges facing our members and highlight the sector’s role in helping the UK prepare for increasingly unpredictable weather.

We want to see a long-term approach that supports businesses to invest in water resilience and recognises the contribution of horticulture to more resilient communities. 🌱

Applications are now open for Broad Horizons 📣

Broad Horizons is a fully funded HTA programme that will bring together 8-10 participants from across the HTA membership. It's a unique opportunity to experience the industry from new angles, build lasting connections, and develop skills alongside peers from across environmental horticulture 🌿

The selected group will come from different parts of the industry, including growers, garden centres, landscapers, suppliers and manufacturers. It will give participants the chance to see parts of horticulture they may not normally encounter in their day-to-day roles.

The programme combines practical workshops, behind-the-scenes visits to member businesses, networking and insight into how the sector operates and engages with government and policymakers 🤝

Places are limited and applications close on Friday 23 October 2026 🗓️
