Why Annual Marine Gas Safety Checks Matter ‼️
Came across this today during a routine marine gas inspection.
The gas control valve on this cooker had completely failed.
On boats, faults like this should never be ignored. LPG is heavier than air so if gas escapes it doesn't disperse into the atmosphere. Instead it can sink and collect in the bilge or other low areas of the vessel.
If enough gas builds up, all it takes is a single spark from an engine, battery, switch or electrical component to potentially cause a fire or explosion.
Many dangerous faults aren't obvious to boat owners and may not show any warning signs until a proper inspection is carried out.
Annual marine gas safety checks help identify issues like this before they become a serious hazard, giving you peace of mind and helping to keep everyone on board safe.
If your boat is due a gas safety inspection, or you'd like advice on your gas system, feel free to get in touch.
