Inspired by the vikings - not the boat shape pod (although building pods feels like building upside-down boats)... the wood treatment!

Secret formula used by the vikings to preserve their boats. That's what we use for our pods, huts and external cladding. Very pricey, but you pay for quality treatment that will make your build last 30 years+ when built properly!

Planed shiplap larch boards absolutely adore this stuff!

That lovely curve takes some careful work.

Three shepherd’s huts, specialist curved metal roofs (Thank you .mccormick.50 for these superb sheets!) and plenty of patient lining up and fixing.

Locally sourced timber, a busy workshop and a beautiful setting. Seeing those finished rooflines come together makes it all worthwhile.

I may have overbuilt this… but this is North Wales. 🌧️🌪

Locally grown larch, milled and planed into a handmade greenhouse—from the concrete base and block walls to the timber frame and door.

3m × 2.3m, with acrylic windows and a clear corrugated roof. Quite a journey from a tree to a tomato house.

What's been happening over the summer? 😄

The workshop got busier, we have had more people joining us and been almost running out of cups of tea 😁

New projects, new donations, new restorations... and running out of storage space 😐

It's no good for these completed projects to be sitting and collecting the dust, so if you are after a garden seat, bench or a w**e rack 🫠, please come and make yourself known at Porthi Dre, Caernarfon. We should be able to help with local delivery.

All proceedings go to Porthi Dre charity.
