Revisiting one of our past projects this week – a completely bespoke extension to a barn, set within the Green Belt.

This scheme brought together a refined palette of timber framing, structural glazing, and a standing seam roof, carefully designed to complement the character of the original building while delivering a contemporary living space.

It certainly came with its technical challenges – balancing openness with structure, achieving clean junctions, and ensuring the detailing worked seamlessly across materials.

But returning 12 months on and seeing the space fully lived in is what it’s all about. The extension now sits effortlessly within its setting, the green roof has matured beautifully, and the landscaping has softened the connection between architecture and garden.

A great reminder that the best projects aren’t just about completion day – they’re about how they perform and feel over time.
