It’s funny how these things happen…

Last week we visited two different customers on the same day were both having issues locking their doors. Despite being completely unrelated jobs, both turned out to be the exact same failed Yale gearbox 🔧

Over the years, you get to know which manufacturers tend to suffer from certain faults, and sometimes it’s possible to spot the problem before the door is even taken apart.

Both customers were back up and running with replacement gearboxes fitted and their doors working properly again 👍

If your door is becoming difficult to lock, the handle feels stiff, or the key isn’t turning as smoothly as it should, it’s often worth getting it checked before it fails completely.

We’ve been really busy over the last month, with a small holiday squeezed in too, so we’ve been a bit quiet on here lately! ☀️

One of our first jobs back was helping a local barber shop in Leyland after they unfortunately suffered a break-in.

We got them secured and repaired as quickly as possible, helping them get back to business with minimal disruption.

Whether it’s damage after a break-in, a faulty lock, misted glass, or a door that’s become difficult to use, we’re always happy to help

Misty or blown windows? 👀

We’ve just helped a local customer who had old leaded double glazed units that had gone cloudy. The leadwork was awkward on this one, so instead of dragging the job out, we boarded up to keep everything secure and came back just 4 days later with brand new units fitted 👍

Nice quick turnaround, no stress, and a massive difference to how the windows look 🙌

If you’ve got misty windows or tired old glass, it’s usually a lot cheaper to replace the glass rather than the whole window.

Last week we sorted a set of French doors for a customer in Walmer Bridge that were dropping, stiff to use and starting to look tired 👎

Instead of replacing the doors (which is what most people expect)…
we replaced all the UPVC flag hinges and got them working spot on again ✅

Doors now open and close smoothly, sit perfectly in line, and look miles better 👍

Busy one last week for us at Ta**us Glass & Locks 🔧

We’ve been out sorting all the little bits that make a big difference — handles, hinges, locks, mechanisms… you name it 👍

After the Easter break, this week has kicked off exactly the same — non stop!

Now the warmer weather’s coming, we’re getting a lot of calls for windows that haven’t been opened all winter… and suddenly won’t open at all 😅
Plenty of failed mechanisms being replaced and access gained without damage where possible.

Had a job today for a local existing customer whose door wouldn’t lock… 🔒

Handle wouldn’t lift and key wouldn’t turn 🔑

Got it sorted same day – gearbox replaced on the spot 👍

This is a really common issue and usually can be rectified quite easily, so if your doors showing any sign of issues contact us before it’s too late.

We replaced these failed double glazed units and the difference is unreal — back to crystal clear again 🙌

No need for full new windows either… just the glass replaced which saves a lot of money 💷
