We started the solo journey off with this 8,200kw solar array in Presteigne, using 20 demeg 410w all black panels attached via seam clamps and rail kept this install very sleek and low profile to the roof keeping in with the rest of the building (we’re waiting for a nice spell while being there to spray the ends of the rails in black!)
Inside the plant room we coupled the panels up to a Sollis 6kW hybrid inverter joined to two Dyness 10kWh battery’s giving them a total of 20kWh’s of storage, this has helped massively cut their electric bill by well over half, with only just signing up to Octopus energy’s flux tariff with three hours cheap rate at night to charge up the battery’s to use in the day, any additional generated power the next day will go back to the grid at more than what they paid for the night before.
As an edition this week we have added a solar iboost immersion controller so that any excess generation will get dumped into the hot water tank via the immersion to save the heatpump kicking in to do so for an extra saving! As an idea of generation values this system is currently averaging at least 15-20kW a day but most half decent days it’s achieving 30-40kW, when installed at the very start of February it was even managing to average around 6-10kW a day then! But during the dull winter months it’s backed up by the cheap night tariff and battery’s!
