When most people picture solar, they naturally think about the panels on the roof.

There’s more to plan than that.

The inverter needs to be considered, battery storage may be part of the conversation, and the layout has to work with the property itself. We’ll also ask about future plans where relevant, particularly if you’re thinking about adding to the system later.

That’s why we prefer to look at the complete picture before recommending anything.

Panels are important, but good system design goes beyond the roof.

Choosing the charger is only one part of an EV charging installation.

Before installation, the wider electrical setup needs to be considered so the charging point can be installed correctly and appropriately for the property.

That includes looking at compatibility with the existing supply and any load management requirements, rather than simply turning up and fitting a unit to the wall.

We provide EV charging solutions for homes and commercial properties, alongside our Solar PV and battery storage work.

The panels are the part everyone sees, but plenty of the work happens before the installation team arrives.

We take time to understand the property and plan the system around the roof, the customer’s requirements and the wider installation.

That includes the panel layout as well as considerations such as inverter and battery location and any future plans the customer has discussed with us.

The end result should look clean and professional, but there should be good thinking behind it too.

That’s the approach we take with our Solar PV installations across Lancashire.

When you’re comparing Solar PV quotes, it can be tempting to look straight at the number of panels and assume more must mean better.

There’s much more to compare.

A proposed system should make sense for the roof, the property and the way you use energy. You should also understand why that particular layout and system has been recommended in the first place.

We’d always encourage homeowners to ask questions rather than simply comparing the biggest number on the page.

A good installer should be able to explain their recommendation in plain English.

You might be ready for Solar PV now but still undecided about battery storage.

That’s completely fine. What is useful is knowing about those plans at the beginning.

When we’re looking at a new system, we can discuss where equipment will be located, what the wider setup needs to look like and whether future expansion is something you want us to consider as part of the design.

You don’t need to know every answer before speaking to us either. Part of our job is explaining the options clearly so you can make an informed decision without feeling pushed into adding something you don’t need.

There’s quite a bit of thought that goes into a Solar PV installation before anybody gets near the roof.

We look at the property, roof layout, orientation and shading, but we also want to understand how you use energy and what you may want from the system in the future.

Battery storage might be on the list now, or it may be something you’re considering later. The same goes for EV charging or expanding the system in future.

These conversations help us build a clearer picture of what is actually suitable for the property

One of the first questions we’re often asked is, “What size solar system do I need?”

The answer depends on much more than how many panels will fit on the roof. We look at the roof itself, orientation, shading, how the household uses energy and where equipment such as the inverter or battery could be located.

We’ll also talk about your longer-term plans. If battery storage or future expansion is something you may consider later, it makes sense to think about that at the design stage too.

That’s why we design each ASC system around the property rather than starting with a standard package.

If you’re considering Solar PV anywhere across Lancashire, we’re happy to have a straightforward conversation about what could suit your home.

A home EV charger should be convenient, but it also needs to be installed correctly.

Before fitting a charger, we consider the property’s electrical supply, the vehicle, where the unit will be positioned and how the cable will reach the car.

The installation also needs the right protection, testing and setup.

As OZEV-registered installers, we provide a professional service for homeowners who want straightforward advice and a tidy, reliable charging point.

Thinking about solar but not sure whether your home is suitable?

A proper assessment looks at the full picture. That includes the condition and layout of the roof, any nearby shading, where the electrical equipment could be installed and how much electricity the household uses.

We also ask about future plans, such as adding battery storage, an EV charger or increasing your electricity use.

The aim is not to sell the biggest system possible. It is to recommend something that fits the property, the household and the customer’s priorities.

Two homes with similar annual electricity bills can need very different solar systems.
One household may use most of its power during the day, while another uses more in the evening. There may also be plans for an electric vehicle, heat pump or changes to working from home.

Looking at how and when electricity is used helps us design a system around the household rather than relying on one annual number.

It also gives customers a clearer understanding of why a particular recommendation has been made.
