Another 120m² floor prepared properly by Southern Liquid Screed, ready for screeding.

There’s a lot more to a quality floor than simply turning up and pouring screed. What goes underneath is just as important as the finished surface.

On this project we installed:

🔹 Blinding sand – used to level out irregularities in the existing concrete slab and provide a smooth, even base for the following layers.

🔹 1200 gauge DPM – creating a robust damp-proof barrier to help prevent ground moisture travelling up through the floor construction.

🔹 50mm Celotex insulation – helping reduce heat loss through the floor and improving the efficiency of the underfloor heating system.

🔹 500 gauge slip membrane – providing separation between the insulation and screed while helping protect the build-up during installation.

🔹 Underfloor heating – carefully laid out and secured, ready to provide even, efficient heat throughout the finished space. 🔥

Another floor prepared by Southern Liquid Screed 💪

On this project, we installed 150m² of latex screed, laid at varying depths from 4mm right up to 35mm to correct the existing floor levels and create a smooth, consistent finish.

Moving with the times!! 🕰️🕰️

Having started nearly 10 years ago Southern Liquid Screed main aim at the beginning was to educate people on liquid screed. At the time it was a fairly new product and we had to battle to get our product in front of traditional sand and cement screed. Having successfully don’t that it’s now it’s time to introduce another one…

Southern Liquid Screed are contracted with numerous German Prefabricated house buildings companies.

The latest innovation we have been introduced to is, installing a recycled wood bead which has replaced the use of PIR and EPS boards, it also completely encapsulates any pipework meaning there are no voids. This is then covered with a Velcro back board which in turn allows us the fix specially designed underfloor pipe without the need for plastic clips.

This technique has removed the use of any plastics or insulation boards and with the prices of PIR forever increasing this may be the future…

We have carried out this method of works on around 8 pre fabricated houses that have entered the UK now and it’s amazing to have the chance to work with new and innovative products.

We started this company ahead of the times and we intend to carry that ethos throughout.
