Some other summer jobsā€¦.
Cradled hexagonal painting panels for Lyn Kirkland - Painter, Tutor, Encaustic wax & mixed media, memory boxes with lids, new wooden slats for weathered wrought iron bench.

Currently working on a ā€˜binneryā€™ to keep Portland bins in check and out of the sometime ferocious wind.

I realise that I am pretty bad at posting projects on this page, so hereā€™s a couple of things I have been up to latelyā€¦.

A custom-fit draining board and shelving for local artists studio and a display stand for another artists ā€˜coastersā€™!

If you have an awkward corner that needs a storage solutionā€¦.get in touch. I prefer to use recycled wood ( not a fan of MDF), or an upcycled piece of furniture if at all possible.

I often get asked to create unique storage solutions for small spaces, houses with odd angled walls etc.This is an under storage fold-out step for a small kitchen. Reclaimed oak for the step and up cycled pine for the shelf.
I enjoy saving decent wood from the skip. Recycling old worktops, door panels etc.

Another satisfied customer! My shadow frames are made from planed pine, V-staples and wood glue. I am very competitively-priced, but do have to put my prices up a wee bit to accommodate increases in material costs and my workshop rent. If you are looking for simple frames for canvas or wood panels get in touch!

My latest orders ready for collection. Some rather large birchply cradled painting panels (1.5m x 2m) and several shadow frames (various sizes). Things are obviously hotting up for Dorset Art Weeks!

The Travelling Tiny Gallery is now in its full glory at the Bright & Beautiful exhibition at the Jubilee Hall, Poundbury. Sales of the mini artworks going to Dorset County Hospital. I thought it was about time that I shared some of the projects I have been working on over the past couple of months. Much of my work has been WITH or FOR local artists. I use as much recycled timber as I possibly can, but where this isnā€™t possible I am a pretty good customer of Dorchester Timber where I am known as ā€˜The Jock on the Rockā€™!
I like a challenge, and have been involved in making huge artist painting panels, some framing (tray frames), Wedding event A-Frame and easel for table plan etc., Portland Wind Phone, The Tiny Gallery (on tour), refurbishing garden gateā€¦probably much more but no photos taken šŸ˜ƒšŸ¤”

If you have a project that involves making something in wood (not a fan of MDF sorry) DM me. I am based on Portland with a workshop on Southwell Business Park.

I'm involved in a couple of community projects at the moment. The 'wind phone' on Portland is in the process of being created. Google 'wind phones' for more info on them. This one is one of only 5 in the UK but they exist in different forms across the World.

The other project is a portable 'Tiny Gallery'. The success of the first one with artists and community groups on Portland has encouraged the project managers Antje Rook and Yollande Posthumus to come up with a new one that can be installed in exhibitions etc on a temporary basis.
All good to keep someone like me occupied!
