❌ Your battery system doesn’t belong in the loft.
We recently helped a customer in Bristol whose battery storage system had been installed in their loft. Whilst this isn’t prohibited in every situation, current industry guidance generally advises against loft installations. In the event of a serious fire, battery systems located in roof spaces can increase the complexity of firefighting operations, and because these systems are extremely heavy, there’s also the potential for them to fall through the ceiling if the structure is weakened by fire.
We relocated the entire system into the garage, where it’s far easier to maintain and better suited for long-term operation.
🔋 As part of the upgrade we also:
✅ Replaced the existing 2 × 5kWh batteries with a 64.4kWh Fogstar battery stack
✅ Extended the DC cabling from the loft to the garage
✅ Installed a new electrical supply to the garage
✅ Fitted a whole-home backup Gateway, allowing the property to continue running during a power cut
The result is a much cleaner, more accessible installation with over six times the original battery storage capacity.
If you’re unhappy with the location of your battery system or are thinking about upgrading your storage, we’d be happy to help.
