Before: She loved the dress, but it was too long and too loose.
I shortened the hem and adjusted the fit to her measurements.
After: Same dress, now look at the difference, a perfect fit.

I repeated this eight times, carefully finding exactly the same point in the pattern each time, before cutting them out.
And there they were — eight matching pieces, each looking almost as though the fabric had been specially designed for the pocket square.

Eight Pocket Squares — each one like a little painting.
A client brought me this beautiful African fabric and asked me to make eight pocket squares from it.
Looking at the wonderful repeating pattern, I thought it would be a shame just to cut eight squares at random. I decided to make them all match, with the beautiful flower sitting perfectly in the centre of each one.
I made a transparent 30 × 30 cm template and marked its exact centre. I then positioned it over the centre of one of the repeating flowers, making sure the template was perfectly aligned with the grain of the fabric, and traced around it with tailor’s chalk.

This client came to me with a pair of jeans that were completely torn and dirty after being worn fashionably too long and dragging along the ground.
I cut away the damaged sections and carefully repaired the hems. They are now still fashionable, and she was delighted that she didn’t have to throw them away. 🧵✨

Padded Elbows
For this client, a goalkeeper, I removed the padded sleeves from an old T-shirt that had become too small for him. I then sewed them into a new, much larger T-shirt that fitted him properly, giving him elbow protection he needs when he falls to catch the ball.

Scallopped Lace Hem
This lace wedding dress had to be shortened in the front only so the bride wouldn't trip over it. But because it has a beautiful scalloped lace hem at the bottom, the alteration had to be made from the waist. This is a complex procedure that involves detaching the skirt from the bodice, removing the excess fabric from the top of the skirt, and reattaching the skirt to preserve its beautiful lace hem and train exactly as they were.

From Oversized to a Perfect Fit
Before: A woman needed to buy a men’s XL sweatshirt to fit across her very large bust—but now of course it was much too long, with extra wide sleeves and dropped shoulders.

After: I narrowed and reset the sleeves, raised the shoulder line, and shortened the body to create a comfortable, flattering fit.
“It makes me look slimmer,” said the delighted client.

The Burn Mark - A Case of Invisible Mending
A customer came to me feeling desperate. He had recently bought a lovely summer suit with shorts, but a small burn mark had spoiled them.

“Can you work your magic?” he asked.

“I’ll try,” I replied.

Using a specialist invisible-mending technique, I carefully reworked the damaged area to blend with the original blue-and-white stripes.
Can you still spot the burn mark in the AFTER photo? The magnified close-up shows the fine detail behind the repair.

A well-loved jacket doesn’t need replacing just because it needs a little care.
This customer came in hoping to “recycle” her denim jacket. Together, we decided to shorten it, take in the waist and change the buttons. She is now happily wearing her transformed jacket as though it were new.
