Ofgem has announced the Energy Price Cap is rising 3.6% from 1st October. 😬

3 checks to do before the heating goes back on to ensure you aren’t wasting money:

⏰ Check your heating schedule - are you heating the house when nobody’s home?

🌡️ Check the thermostat, turning it up doesn’t make your home heat up any faster.

⚙️ Check your boiler settings, many boilers are set to a higher flow temperature than they actually need.

And if your boiler is due a service, getting it checked before winter means you’re much less likely to discover a problem when you actually need it.

The first freezing day of the year is really not the day you want to find out your heating isn’t working!

Is your thermostat costing you money?

An old, poorly positioned or incorrectly programmed thermostat could mean your heating is running when you don’t need it, or working harder than it should.

A few things worth checking:

• Is your heating coming on when nobody is home?
• Are you constantly turning the thermostat up and down?
• Is your heating schedule actually set around your routine?
• Is your thermostat positioned somewhere that gives you an accurate reading? (NOT next to the window!)
• Would better heating controls give you more control over when you’re using energy?

With last week’s heatwave a distant memory, now is a good time to check your heating controls before you start relying on them every day again.
