❌ Would you expect to find CARDBOARD holding up your front step?😱
That is exactly what we uncovered this week.
We originally visited this customer to fit a new fence. While there, she mentioned she wasn’t happy with a driveway and step she’d recently had installed by another company.
We took a closer look, and the photos speak for themselves👇🏼:
• The "Before": The step had back fall on it and water was falling against the house when it should be falling away from the house (as you can see from the spirit level). But the real shock came when we lifted it. The previous builders had packed it out with wet cardboard instead of proper materials and they had also completely covered over a drain. It’s unsafe, unprofessional, and destined to fail.
• The "After": We ripped it out, cleared the drainage properly, and rebuilt the step correctly from the ground up using solid foundations, proper materials, and a perfectly level finish built to last.
The Lesson: For homeowners, this is a reminder of why it’s so important to check a company’s reputation and workmanship before choosing who to hire. Unfortunately, not all companies follow proper standards, and sometimes shortcuts are hidden beneath the surface where customers can’t see them.
When this happens, it’s experienced, reputable teams like ours who step in to put things right and make sure the work is safe, level and built to last.
This customer did the right thing by reaching out when she realised something wasn’t right, and we’re glad we could help her get the step she should have had from the start.
