Today we were called into action after an elderly lady suffered a fall inside her home. Community doctors were on scene and had a key to get in — but unfortunately there was a key left in the inside of the back door, meaning access couldn’t be gained in an emergency situation.
Thankfully we were able to gain entry quickly and safely. And the woman was okay.
To help prevent this happening again, we upgraded the lock to a thumbturn cylinder. These locks are ideal for elderly or vulnerable people as they can still be locked securely from the inside, but carers, family members or emergency services can gain access with a key if needed.
It’s a simple upgrade that can make a massive difference in an emergency.
