Finally got to the bottom of this one in Paignton!
We've just wrapped up a job in Paignton that’s been a nightmare for the owners for years. It was a tricky box gutter between two properties with a chimney right in the middle—a real magnet for water ingress.
I’d been out to inspect it, and I had my suspicions about why previous attempts to stop the leak had failed. It wasn't just a simple fix; the runoff around that chimney simply wasn't sufficient for the amount of water coming down those roof falls.
Once the scaffolding was up and we had the slates off, it was clear I was right. We didn't mess about. We:
✅ Replaced the damaged boards.
✅ Increased the overflow capacity using bitumen torch-on felt.
✅ Replaced the fibre cement slates.
✅ Chased in new code 4 lead flashing and sealed it properly.
It’s a great feeling to hand this back to the client knowing it’s finally done right.
