Another quality project completed for Plymouth Community Homes.

Working in partnership with GMR Building Services and Drake Scaffolding , the Stormforce team has successfully completed waterproofing works to a canopy on a high-rise residential building.

Working on a high-rise property brings additional safety considerations, even when the works themselves are being carried out at first-floor level. Careful planning, coordination between contractors and appropriate health and safety measures were essential to ensure the work could be completed safely, with consideration given to the building, its residents and everyone working on site.

GMR Building Services initially removed a lower section of the insulated render system to provide access to the canopy upstands. Stormforce then applied a cold-applied liquid waterproofing system across the canopy, before GMR returned to reinstate the render system and complete the works.

The result is a fully waterproofed canopy, providing long-term protection while maintaining the building’s insulated finish.

This project is a great example of how effective collaboration, detailed planning and a shared commitment to safety help deliver quality results, particularly when working in occupied high-rise residential buildings.

Another great project successfully completed by the Stormforce team for Plymouth Community Homes.

The project involved a full strip of the existing roofing system, followed by the installation of a new IKO PLC (UK) Tapered BUR system, together with new PVC fascia and guttering.

With the works taking place while the properties remained occupied, careful planning, communication and consideration for the tenants were essential throughout the project.

Working closely with the client and residents helped ensure the project was delivered safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption.

A great result and a real credit to the Stormforce site team for the way they managed the project from start to finish.

Sometimes you’re fortunate enough to work on an important building, and sometimes you’re fortunate enough to have a great view while doing it.

Working on the historic Grand Hotel in Plymouth has been a real pleasure for everyone involved. The project has brought together a wide range of skills from across the Stormforce team, including the application of a new liquid waterproofing system to the central gutter, slate repairs, leadwork and the installation of new doors.

Projects like this require careful planning, attention to detail and a team capable of working across a variety of roofing disciplines — something our directly employed operatives take great pride in.

Access was provided by Drake Scaffolding, with the scaffolding itself presenting an interesting project given the building’s location and the access requirements.

A challenging and rewarding project, made even better by the views across Plymouth.

Sometimes, the best sign of a successful project is that you wouldn’t know we’d been there.

Working alongside Norse Group and Highweek Primary School , our team carried out a detailed programme of roofing works, carefully planned to maintain the character of the existing building while improving its long-term performance.

The works included:

• Stripping and renewing all internal roof faces
• New leadwork to the valleys
• New roofing felt and battens
• Careful relaying of the existing tiles
• Cleaning and coating of the box gutters
• Installation of new electric Velux roof windows

A project requiring attention to detail, careful planning and a high-quality finish — leaving the school with a renewed roof while retaining the appearance and character of the existing building.

Another quality project completed for a valued local client.

Working with The Thinking Schools Academy Trust, our team has successfully completed works across multiple roof sections, installing a new IKO PLC (UK) Felt Built-Up Roofing (BUR) System to provide a robust and durable long-term solution.

A big thank you to Drake Scaffolding for providing the access solutions throughout the project, and to Jonathan Read and the team at IKO for their continued support and technical expertise.

Another great project completed by the Stormforce team for a key client of Thinking Schools Academy Trust

This project involved a range of roofing works, including:

🔹 Liquid overlay system to existing single ply roofing
🔹 Removal and disposal of asbestos-containing slates to several roof sections
🔹 Liquid overlay to an existing felt roof
🔹 New felt Built-Up Roofing (BUR) system over the boiler room

The project was carried out during a period of extremely hot weather, which required careful planning and some adjustment to our working hours to ensure the works could be completed safely and to the required standard.

Working within a school environment and alongside residential properties also meant that these changes had to be carefully managed, minimising disruption to the surrounding community while maintaining progress on site.

Good planning, communication and the ability to adapt are essential on projects like this, and once again the Stormforce team delivered a high-quality finish across a varied and challenging scope of works.

Another successful project recently completed for Plymouth Community Homes.

Working on an 8-storey block of apartments presented a number of challenges, particularly around safe access and the control of both operative and material movements at height.

Through careful planning and a little thinking outside the box, our team developed a robust system of work that provided safe and practical access, while allowing the liquid roofing system to be applied efficiently and to the highest standard.

As always, our operatives are at the heart of what we do. Their experience, skill and commitment to following the agreed safety plan resulted in an excellent finish and a successful project for the client.

A great example of how good planning, innovative thinking and skilled workmanship come together to deliver the right result.
