Started a new kitchen renovation this week and got all of the first fix completed. 🔧

As part of the project we’ve upgraded the old dual RCD consumer unit to a brand new 18th Edition metal consumer unit complete with individual RCBO protection and a Type 2 SPD, bringing the installation up to a much higher standard of safety and reliability.

Really pleased with how this one is coming together already.

It’s been a busy week at Innov8 Electrical South West with our fourth consumer unit upgrade completed, six quotations carried out, and three site visits to keep other projects moving in the right direction.

We don’t just turn up, do the job and leave. We take pride in keeping our customers informed, making sure every installation is completed properly, and delivering work we’d be happy to have in our own homes.

Just a mix of jobs from the last few weeks — consumer unit upgrades, rewires, fault finding, EICRs and everything in between. Every job gets the same level of care and attention, whether it’s a small repair or a full installation.

⚡ Fuseboard upgrade completed today ⚡

Our customer got in touch as they are currently selling their rental property and needed an EICR carried out before the sale completes.

During the inspection, we found a number of issues with the existing consumer unit, including compromised IP protection, an incorrectly installed busbar and Type AC RCDs supplying a large amount of modern equipment.

We replaced it with a new FuseBox consumer unit, fully labelled, neatly terminated and left ready for service.

We always try to look at the bigger picture with every job. It’s not just about changing a fuseboard or getting a certificate issued. It’s about giving the customer honest advice, doing the work properly and leaving them with peace of mind.

That’s something we genuinely care about.

📍 Gunnislake Rewire Completed ⚡️

After an EICR identified old lead and rubber cabling with no CPCs, it was clear that a full rewire was needed before this family could safely move into their new home.

Our client was brilliant throughout and trusted us to offer our recommendations on the best way to complete the installation. The utility room, kitchen and porch were wired in conduit, as there are plans to renovate these areas at a later date.

This was a mammoth rewire and definitely an all-hands-on-deck job, especially while working through the heatwave! A huge amount of work went into this one, but we’re really pleased with the final result.

Another property brought up to modern electrical standards, ready for the family to make it their home. 🏡⚡️

Been so busy lately that the admin has taken a back seat, so Friday night is all about catching up! 📋⚡

Tonight’s to-do list:
✅ 16 EICR certificates to type up
✅ 3 EICs
✅ 2 Minor Works Certificates
✅ 4 quotations to finalise
✅ SafeContractor documentation

On top of that, we have a potential meeting coming up with a local council to discuss taking on the maintenance and compliance of over 100 properties on their behalf – an exciting opportunity for Innov8 Electrical South West! 🔌🏠

It’s been a busy week, but we’re grateful for the continued support from all our customers, contractors, and partners.

Full rip out completed by us – clean slate and ready to go. Now it’s time to get stuck into wiring dedicated radials for the hob, cooker, microwave, hot tap, and a brand new kitchen ring main ⚡

This one’s going to look the business…
LED strip lighting under the worktops, wall units and plinths, breakfast bar pendants, dining room chandelier, 2-way dimmable lighting, all finished with sleek matte black accessories.

All isolators will be neatly hidden away in cupboards for that clean, modern finish 👌
