🏡 Project Update | Derriford, Plymouth

This project in Derriford is starting to really take shape!

The new extension is progressing well, and the vertical timber-effect cladding is looking particularly smart, giving the building a contemporary finish while complementing the existing house.

The large glazed doors will open the new living space out onto the garden, with the rooflight bringing plenty of natural light into the extension.

It’s great to see the design moving from drawings into reality. 📐➡️🏡

This one took a while… but we got there in the end 🙌

We’re really pleased to share that planning was approved last week for this barn conversion into high-quality agricultural workers’ accommodation.

It wasn’t the most straightforward journey. The planners quite rightly required a number of changes to get it over the line, including:

Relocating the main entrance to the opposite side of the building

Moving the car parking to avoid direct access onto the country lane

Keeping the garden area small enough to avoid triggering BNG assessments

Making multiple adjustments to the site boundaries

There were plenty of moving parts on this one, but through careful revisions and ongoing discussions, we managed to reach a solution that works for everyone.

A great result and a testament to patience, collaboration and persistence 👏

On to the next one!

Almost ready to submit the planning drawings for this L-shaped, single-storey extension in Plymouth. The brief was simple: a larger dining room for everyday living and entertaining, plus a dedicated home office space.

Excited to see this one move to the next stage.

✨ Exterior Design Spotlight! ✨
Taking a closer look at the exterior of this compact 37m² holiday dwelling—one of our earlier projects that still stands out for its clean, modern aesthetic.

The design features a simple rectangular form wrapped in natural timber cladding, giving the unit a warm and contemporary look that sits comfortably within the surrounding garden. The sloped roof adds subtle character while keeping the profile low and unobtrusive.

One of the key exterior moments is the large sliding doors that open directly onto a private patio area. To maintain uninterrupted views and a light, open feel, the patio is finished with a sleek glass balcony, creating a seamless visual connection between the interior and the garden beyond.

🌿 Exterior Highlights:
• Contemporary timber cladding
• Large sliding doors for indoor–outdoor flow
• Glass balcony for clear garden views
• Private patio perfect for relaxing outdoors
• Low-profile sloped roof for a modern, gentle silhouette

A simple yet refined exterior that enhances both the architecture and the surrounding landscape.

✨ Project Throwback! ✨
Sharing one of our earlier designs—a compact, modern single-storey holiday rental tucked within a garden alongside an existing home.

At just 37m², this small retreat showcases how thoughtful design can maximise comfort and style in a minimal footprint. The simple rectangular form, paired with a sloped roof and timber-clad exterior, gives the unit a warm, contemporary character that blends naturally with its surroundings.

🌿 Project Highlights:
• Single-storey, 37m² compact layout
• Contemporary timber façade
• Large sliding glass doors opening to the garden
• Private patio with outdoor seating
• Soft landscaping and fencing for privacy

A peaceful, nature-focused hideaway—still one of our favourites from the archives.
