Last year, we completed a resin-bound driveway for a customer. Some time after completion, the customer contacted me regarding lines he said were visible at night when the driveway was illuminated by the low-level headlights of his vehicle.
I personally returned to inspect the driveway. In normal daylight conditions, I could find no cracks, defects, damage or visible lines in the resin surface, and I was satisfied with the overall installation and finish.
Because the customer remained concerned, I contacted the resin manufacturer/supplier that provides our materials and asked for their professional advice. They explained that under certain low-angle or low-level lighting conditions, variations in the appearance of a hand-trowelled resin surface can become visible. This does not necessarily indicate a defect or failure in the resin itself.
Unfortunately, the customer was unhappy with this explanation and subsequently posted a negative Google review, including a photograph.
I completely respect every customer’s right to express their opinion. However, I also believe there are two sides to every story.
The photographs taken on completion show the driveway in normal conditions and, in my view, demonstrate the standard of finish that was achieved. We take enormous pride in our work and would never knowingly leave a customer with defective workmanship.
I have spent many years building and protecting the reputation of Done Right Driveways, and I believe it is only fair that people considering a review are able to understand the circumstances from both sides before forming their own judgement.
We will always stand behind our workmanship, investigate genuine concerns and seek professional advice when necessary.
