Spotted this beauty on the plot today - enjoying a wasp for her lunch 😍 Got so close I could hear her chewing 🤩
They are one of my favourite insects - I've built 2 ponds to attract them to the plot!
Not 100% sure but I think it's a female Emperor? Any experts please do let me know 🙂
Some fun facts about these beauties for you:
Dragonflies have almost 360° vision thanks to their huge eyes, which contain up to 30,000 individual lenses 🤯
They can fly in every direction - forwards, backwards, sideways, hover in place, and even fly upside down!
They are super efficient predators with 95% success rate when hunting 👏
They spend most of their lives underwater, living as nymphs for 1–5 years before emerging as the beautiful flying insects we see ♥️
