We recently completed a stake-and-tube tree planting job for a newly constructed chicken shed. With a tractor set to work around the site, achieving an accurate 5m spacing throughout was absolutely essential.

Using modern GPS technology and tractor to marking out each location proved to be the most efficient and precise method for the job. A huge credit to s&g baynes for their excellent work and of course our own team for their incredible work, the end result speaks for itself! 😍🚜🐔

A Very interesting job. 🌲

We cut down three large hemlock trees, cut them into 3m lengths, colour-coded each tree, and numbered every length.

From there, we delivered the timber to the local sawmill, Murthly Sawmill, less than 500m from the point of felling.

Murthly Sawmill then did the hard part. They milled every length individually, packing each one while carefully maintaining the colour and number coding throughout the process.

Once this was done, we collected the boards and drove them to their final destination...

Forest Research.

We went through all of this so Forest Research can destroy them.

I know what you're thinking, but it's not for nothing. Without carrying out this kind of testing, we'd have no real understanding of how strong timber truly is or what types of structures it is capable of building.

Here's to more research that helps demonstrate what the ultimate building material really is...

fantastic effort from one of our teams tackling a large area of non-native invasive hemlock at Balloch Castle Grounds.

The removal of these dense stands will help create the conditions needed for native woodland regeneration to thrive once again, improving biodiversity and the long-term health of the woodland.

Projects like this are about more than just tree removal, they're about restoring and enhancing natural habitats for native vegetation and animals alike.

A great transformation that will help create a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient woodland for everyone to enjoy. 🌲🌳

Today we took delivery of a new Can-Am 6x6 ATV, taking our fleet up to four machines.

With continued growth, it made sense to add another workhorse to help us lay out trees more efficiently.

We’ve never looked beyond Can-Am—the reliability and performance have always been second to none, and this latest model looks the part too.
The plan was to have it ready for next planting season, but with us still planting in the middle of June, it’s going straight to work.

A big thank you to our trusted friends at ATV Services Scotland Ltd for supplying another fantastic machine and looking after the fleet of course.
