We are hiring💥-Team Leader / Excavator Driver
Full-time | Competitive rate (DOE) | Immediate start available
About the role
We’re looking for an experienced Team Leader / Excavator Driver to join our landscape/construction team. You’ll lead a small crew on site while operating excavators safely and efficiently to deliver projects on time and to a high standard.
Key responsibilities
• Operate excavators 1T to 10T (and associated attachments) safely, productively, and in line with site plans and method statements
• Lead and support a small team on site: allocate tasks, set standards, and maintain momentum
• Carry out daily machine checks and basic maintenance; report defects promptly
• Work with site management to plan works, manage priorities, and coordinate deliveries/plant
• Ensure excavations are completed to line, level, and tolerance (foundations, drainage, service trenches, grading)
• Maintain strong housekeeping, segregation, and safe working areas
• Uphold H&S compliance: RAMS, permits, utilities avoidance, and safe digging practices
• Complete site paperwork as required (checks, permits, briefings, records)
What we’re looking for
• Proven experience operating excavators and working within civils/groundworks
• Previous experience leading a team (or ready to step up)
• Relevant competency card/ticket (e.g., CPCS or NPORS for excavator)
• Strong understanding of safe digging, working around services, and trench support
• Good communication skills and a hands-on, can-do approach
• Full UK driving licence
Desirable
• Additional plant tickets (dumper/roller/telehandler), lifting ops, or GPS machine control experience
• First Aid at Work
• Experience reading drawings and setting out basics

Hours
